P220 - Awesome. Just Awesome.
P228 - Sucked. Just plain sucked. It was inaccurate, the trigger failed to reset at one time on the range when my JAR HEAD Brother was with me. I stopped shooting and was trying to get the trigger unstuck... seemed okay, so while I was still keeping it down range I let the trigger travel rearward again and not suprisingly enough the gun fired... To which my bro claimed I had a misfire. I sold it off and got an HK USP 40 the next day. That little 9 sucked so bad. I couldnt hit the paper at 25! Sights were off very badly among other things... All the while my Bro's Sigma performed flawlessly.

Well - that HK I got next gave me no problems. The new owner of it has weak magazine springs and needs them changed. Not bad for an '86 pistol that has fired some 20,000 rounds.

My first SIG was a P226 9mm back in the mid-80's. The P220A was added in the early '90's. Since then another P226, a P229 (.40), a P225 (probably my favorite SIG), a P210, and a P245 and P239 (9mm) just a couple of weeks ago. Actually the P239 is for my son, I like the P225. I like them so much I just might get another one.

Never owned a Sig.... I want a 239 and I almost bought a Sigpro (plastic), anyone had any luck with these????

Have 220,226,228,229,245 & a 2340. For some reason the 220 is the least accurate of the bunch? Even with Big hands the 245 is absolutely Stellar in both trigger pull & accuracy. 226 was good but after Novak's did an action job on it don't even notice the transition from DA to SA during "Action" type shooting, about the only other thing else I'm going to do to it is grind off the "rain water" grooves on the trigger & radius it. It's a favorite IDPA Toy just because it's so much fun to shoot. 228 is OK with a nice smooth DA pull. 229 still is the favorite, just a perfect blend of all things Sig. Least favorite is the 2340, been back to Exeter for that strange DA tendancy of dropping the hammer if you let off on the trigger a little bit once it's right back there. They did this & that but it's still the same, not to mention It stacks badly in DA, inexcuseable for a Sig! even a lowly $500 2340! This is one of the few "All German Mfg." 2340's too, Very disapointing. The 'Smith even admitted they don't know HOW to do a decent trigger job on them yet! The Novak's action job made the same done by Exeter look like crap! I know they have litigation worrys also.

I just got my first Sig (a P225) and don't find it surprising that so many consider this their favorite 9mm Sig. I do wish it had a safety ... I can decock my USP40C without changing my grip ... but that's just a preference. I've only sold two 9mm autos (92F and a HP) and wish I still had them both. I won't be selling my HK or the Sig unless completely and utterly desperate! I must have been under the influence of aliens and somehow believed that I had no reason to have more than one autolader (I can only thank some devine being that I considered my .357 to be somehow different!).

My fav is the P-225 as it is the most accurate one I own also the one that I grab leaving the house. Slim and the D/A pull is great could be a little lighter but SMOOTH and 8 rounds is enough to get the job done. If not a quick reload for the gaggle of extra mags will do it.

The P-226 is also a great piece but just not up to the 225's standards I love it also but will grab the 225 first. Plus factory mags are $$$$$$.

Bottom line you get very few lemons for SIG and any of the models will do if U will.

Later,

Mike

P220: Very accurate. Trigger pull was kind of rough until I got a Novak's action job. Slide was also prone to rust very easily; I recently had the gun refinished by Arizona Response Systems in satin black and it looks beautiful. Has some feeding problems, especially with American Eagle ammunition for some reason!

P232: Also very accurate. I bought this gun mainly for its looks! Really long double action trigger pull.

P229 (.40 S&W): More accurate than most pistols I've shot, but the least accurate of my Sigs. Recoil and muzzle flip are not a problem at all. Trigger is great out of the box. Overall, this guns shoots really well. Sometimes if a half-full magazine is inserted while the slide is locked back, the slide will release by itself.

P239 (.40 S&W): The most accurate of my Sigs, but the muzzle flip is substantial. Gritty trigger pull, fixed by Novak's action job.

I like all of my Sigs, but not all of them had the smoothest trigger pull out of the box, and their finishes are not very durable. Mine are otherwise very accurate and reliable (only one has ever had feeding problems).

I love my 228. It was my first handgun and sat dirty in its box for three years until I got back into shooting again. The more guns I shoot the more I love my 228. It is extremely accurate and is simply the sweetest handgun I've shot.

Hi All, The world famous Sig-Sauer P220A in
.45ACP is my favorite; as it really feels
most comfortable in my hand. But, it would
be followed closely by the P228 9m/m.

Best Wishes,

My first SIG: a P229 in .40 *&*. I can't really comment on accuracy, given my relative inexperience and less-than-stellar marksmanship (more on that here- [Link to invalid post]). It was utterly reliable, built like a rock, and was easy to learn. Never experienced any malfunctions that weren't my fault, or the ammo's. It had the blued finish, which never really started to wear, as it was never a CCW gun while I had it.

With that, I segue to my next Sig (oooooh, he can use alliteration! :D). I had finally taken and passed the Texas CHL course, and while waiting for my "plastic" to arrive, I decided I wanted to go from a .40 to a .45, and in a more concealable package to boot (gee, I don't want much, do I? ;) ), so I traded my P229 back to the store I bought it from. That and a little bit of cash bought me the (then) new-fangled P245. This one was in K-Kote, and ooooohh booooy, what a beauty!! :) I really want a P220, but I needed a CHL piece, so to me this was the best option. I got the .45 I wanted, it was compact, and it was a SIG. Never will I let go of this gun! It, too, is solid and reliable, also with no malfunctions that weren't my fault (as I said, I lack experience, as well as a family of supportive gun nuts who showed me the ropes- I'm self taught, and it shows on my targets :o ). I still can't really expound on the accuracy, for reasons already noted. If you haven't followed the link yet, do so now or you shall face the Dark Side! :p

I can only comment on one other SIG model, that being my wife's P228. To the best of my recollection, it is more or less a P229 in 9mm (yes, I know P229s come in 9mm, so don't say it! :D).

I recommend SIGs to anyone who asks. They're worth the price you pay for them.

The 239 in 9mm is quickly replacing my G26 as "small" carry pistol. 10 round mags make great spares too.

Favorite is the 228. Also have a 226 which is my next favorite. Next purchase will most likely be the 225.

Don't like the P-239s and P-245s because the grip is too short for my big hand. No place to wrap my pinky!

Haven't tested the new polymer frame jobs, so can't comment on them.

Regards! DaMan

PS- What's the vote tally so far?

The only Sig I own is the Sigpro 2940 in .357 Sig. I don't know if it's the pistol or the caliber, but this gun is a blast to shoot. This pistol is just plain fun, ... but so is my P97, P99, PT92, Mak, etc., etc. Oh what the heck, they're ALL fun to shoot, and are ALL my favorite. Just don't make me choose.

1)P226 - 1st pistol I ever owned.Hi-cap. Super accurate.Fits my hands perfectly with the Hogue grips. No problems at all.
2)P220 - I love this pistol.K-Kote.Hogue grips.Super accurate.No problems so far.This gun is my constant companion.

I'm up to five now, just picked up a 225 (k-kote, night sights)today, also have 228 (my first & favorite), 226 (all nickle, Hogue Pau Fero grips, beauty) best shooter, 232 (also a sweetie), and 239, just added night sights (main carry gun). All have been absolutely flawless, accurate, reliable, etc. typical SIGs. Triggers have all been good out-of-the-box, and have turned silky with use. I love them all. Yeah, I'm a SIG bigot, I guess. M2

I've owned two 228's, and I own a 220. All absolutely reliable.

Should'a kept my last 228, but a Kimber CDP was calling.

Never a bobble, though, with the Sigs. Always felt good, shot good, looked good :)

I have shot many different handgunsa and I must say that I always go to a Glock or Sig if you want a dependable, high quality pistol. :)

In my hands, the Sigs I have P220, P229(40 S&W, and .357 SIG), P239(9mm) and the P230 are some of the most dependable and accurate DA pistols that are on the market, they arent the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
The P229 in 357 SIG is only rivaled by my tuned Colt Gold Cup as far as accuracy, man that thing can shoot!!! I wouldnt carry a .380 but if I was going to I would bet my life on a P230 they dont jam and are extremely accurate for what they are, the trigger is alittle on the heavy side with that pistol though.

I have not any experience with the polymer SIGS and the new P245 but I am sure that they are good also.

I got one because I had to. I actually like it. In 11mos, 21 days it will be shipped to Robar for some work. My 229 will come back with .357 barrel, stippling on the frontstrap, underside of the triggerguard, and a small pad on each side of the front of the slide (for press checking). Haven't decided if I am going all NP3 or NP3 frame and black (or grn)Roguard slide. Add hogue grips and Ashley express sights and I think my sig will be optimized for "community outreach" programs.
