P226 first Sig Good gun too big for my little hands. Never a malfunction. Lives on my closet shelf.
P232 Sl. Good little gun. Not the most accurate of my guns but close enough. Fun to shoot. I use it as a Hiking gun b/c its light and all my friends are competent with it.
P228 Absolute favorite. The frame rails have some sort of grove in the top Gouging I guess but it stopped after the first 50 rounds and doesn't effect the pistol at all. Most accurate, no malfuntions. Only gun I have that really suits my small hands. I am looking for a 225 though.

So 3 sigs No malfuntions 226 and 228 were bought used. Great guns.

Shop Smart! Shop S-Mart**** That's right I'm a gear whore and proud of it***

Had a 239 in 9mm a few years ago. Could not shoot it well. Traded it.

225 in shop a few months ago was such a great deal had to get it. Glad I did. Awesome accuracy. May be the most accurate pistol I own. I think the trigger is much better than the 239 I had. Will start carrying it on occasion when the Blade Tech arrives.

Have since picked up a 220, like it OK but it won't replace my 1911s or my .45 Glocks.

Never a jam with any of them, even the 239 I got rid of.

Have had 220,225,226,228,229 and sig pro.

Only probs were a cracked frame on a 226, couldn't get any of several sig pros in 40 to work for me; all worked fine w the 357 barrel in them. Go figure?

When very dirty, the slide might not lock open when empty on any of the alloy frames.

Sig 220.Got it and sold all my colts within a couple of months. The most accurate and reliable heavy cal pistol I have ever owned.

I'm old and deceitful.

Favorite is the 225, of course. Smoothest DA and crisp surprise SA break in any semi I've ever shot.

228 Is probably second on my list since it is so much like the 225.

They both were made for my hand.

I've had a P229 and a sigpro. Much prefer the polymer sigpro. I could shoot it more accurately than the p229 and it will probably last a lot longer. Plastic rocks :)

In IPSC competition, the range officer was amazed I could shoot the sigpro as fast and as accurately as the typical 1911 pistol. It's called practice :)

Lots of good guns for us to still choose from, Sigs just have the extra touch in ergonomics and accuracy that I prefer. I like them ALL! DA/SA have never been a problem for me accuracy/speedwise and I don't even think about it; I actually like the long smooth DA pull. Easy to field strip, detail strip, maintain, and they point the best for me and I've never had a problem with any of them.

Only Sig I have is the P220 and it was my first in the .45 caliber. Have never looked back. Accurate, fits, reliable.

My issue with SIG pistols is a design issue more than with the actual quality of their products and I realize that this is very much an individual thing and that what one person might consider to be a flaw another person might view as a desirable feature but ...

I was briefly employed as an armed security guard and my partner's uncle was a LEO with the county sheriff's department. I don't remember all of the details as this happened nearly two decades ago but the part of the story that stuck out in my mind was that the BG somehow managed to get his hands on the LEO's gun and attempted to shoot him with his own weapon.

The gun had a manual safety on it which prevented the gun from being fired when engaged. After several pulls on the trigger, the BG attempted to disengage the safety but since he was not familar with the weapon, even that task took an extra second or two. Those several seconds gave the LEO time to regain control of the situation.

Had the LEO been carrying a SIG (which only has a decocker and not an actually safety since the gun can still be fired once the decocker has been engaged) or a revolver, he would have been shot and maybe even killed.

First and only Sig-the perfect 226.

ONLY complaint: the slide parkerizing or whatever literally wore off in a matter of a few months.

SOLUTION: hard chrome. It looks better, shows no sign of wear after 6+ years, even with heavy carry use and use in several formal training programs.

It fits my hands perfectly, even after I replaced the factory grips with the significantly thicker HOGUES.

In about 6000 rounds, it has never failed to fire, eject or feed.

It is very accurate, not too heavy considering I carry 79 rounds for it on my typical web setup.

I had metropolight night sights installed when I had the chrome done, other than that it is bone stock.

Oh, I replaced the recoil spring at 5000 rounds.

My first SIG was a P220 .45. Out of the box, the last round in the magazines nosedived and jammed tight every time. SIG's service department adjusted the mag followers. It's been 100% ever since.

My P225 and P228 have also been 100%, except on two occasions when I failed to allow the trigger to return far enough to reset.

In all, count me as a SIG fan.

FUD, so how does that effect this survey?

226 9mm I have over 6000 rounds through it. I have experienced 3 problems. Two of which were related to hard primers on cheap Norinco Ammo (no flames about using cheapie ammo in a SIG, please) and a second DA strike solved those. The third problem was when using a Ram Line 18 round magazine the slide did not lock open. I have not experienced that again, and since I never shoot Chinese ammo through it, point one is moot. The trigger got smoother and better the more I shot it.
Very reliable, more accurate than I could ever shoot it, I have the factory test target to prove it.
It has been durable enough for me to wonder what the people who complain about SIG durability are doing with them. Of course, I don't carry it for a living, yet.
239 and 229 in .357 SIG. I need to get to the range more as I have not fired these enough to make valid points on reliablility (both under 500 rounds.) In the shooting I have done with them, both have been accurate and not one hitch so far. Finish on the 239 is fine, and the 2 tone 229 was showing some rust from finger prints after being handled by nearly everyone in my class, Flitz to the rescue.

My first sig was a 229 in 40 sw I later got a 357 sig barrel and later a 9mm barsto barrel. This gun was great and accurate.

My second sig was a 220 still have it a very good 45 not such a good 400 corbon but thats another story.

My third sig was a 239 in 9mm and it was a great 9mm.

My fourth sig was a 239 in 357 I love it and still own it. Its my faviorate off duty carry in the summer time.

My fifth sig was a 226 in 9mm was a great plinker.

My 6th sig is a Sig sport in 357 and I love it recoils like a 9mm.

My 7th sig was another 229 in 357 good gun but I sold it.

All of my sigs have been 100% reliable.

My first gun *ever* was a Sig P-229 in 9mm that my friend sold me. I sure loved that gun. I ended up selling it back to him so that I could buy my second pistol, another Sig P-229, this time in .40. We joke all the time that we will never sell that 9mm 229 to anyone but each other. I LOVE SIGS!!!

How do I find my Sig? let me say this

1) I've NEVER had to worry about whether the safety was engaged!

2)It has absorbed hot coffee, rain, donut crumbs(laugh and I'll shoot you), soda pop, sweat, sweat and more sweat!

3) I've NEVER had a Failure to feed from any mag I've put in it. (I even won a bet from a Glock fan and mixed Ball, Hydra-shok, Cor-Bon, and Golden sabre ammo in one mag. it never even flinched).

4) And this is the most important, It saved my life TWICE in one night! putting one bad guy in the morgue and another in a wheelchair for life!

5) My Sig feels better in my hand than any other handgun I've ever owned or been issued (except my Kimber) it is designed so well as to let me decock with out Changing my grip
that DOES matter when you are covering a target that is nuetralized but is still alive. Yeah I guess I like Sigs

P-220; I owned one eight years ago. Never should have traded it. Just got a new one. Same great pistol. Stone cold reliable and lightweight. It REEKS of quality thru and thru. P-229; Once again, never should have traded it. Another great pistol from Sig-Sauer. I don't ever remember a malfunction from the P-229 either. Best, J. Parker

I love my P229 two tone, beautiful looking weapon.

Fud,

I understand your point and have heard many stories of cops being saved because the criminal was unfamiliar with the manual safety of LEO's pistol. Or the LEO and the criminal was wrestling and the BG got the pistol but the quick thinking LEO reached up and engaged the safety. But consider this, most cops (I think) use glocks, which don't even have a decocker...if what you describe was truely a concern for LEO, why would they use glocks?

Now I tried this with an unloaded sig, I depressed the decocker while I pulled the trigger, the hammer was released but since my thumb was on the decocker, the hammer didn't ram forward and engage the firing pin. So in a pinch I guess you could try that.

Just curious was the gun snatched from the good guys holster and if so was it a retention holster. Most gun snatches can be prevent by the following.
1. not having one's head up one's ass
2. weapon retention training
3. good level 2 or even better level 3 retention holster. I prefer guns not to have manual safety's they just slow me down. Some like them its a personal thing. Their are advantages to either side. Its kind of like the magazine safety argument. Personally I think smith has a good idea by having them others swear their terrible. But it depends on the situation weather they will help or hinder. I had an oportunity to buy a 4006 and I did not. I would not mind having a 945 but that would be purly a fun gun.

I bought my first Sig a couple of months ago. It is a 226 in 9mm with the newer stainless slide. It is finally nice to hit what I am aiming at without expensive custom work. Sling Shot
