Sig P320 announced the winner of US MHS contract

We know nothing of the performance of any of the handguns in the testing. And how is it "as expected", when Glock is the most common basis used for reliability?

Glock reliability is a pure myth fabricated by Glock. A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. Read the book on Glock.

Striker is highly prone to stoppage at the least amount of grit.

Hammer fired no.

I did read the book. I've also owned pretty much every current production pistol, and a lot of those hammer fired from SIGs, to HKs, to CZs, etc. Glocks have shown to be quite reliable in my experience and the experience of many others. Are they as reliable as hammer fired? IMO no, but the argument that the "least amount of grit" stops them is just hyperbole. Here's one of your hammer fired pistols being not so reliable:

Water is an issue, but not really grit.

Whether that's true or not, it's difficult to see how it could have had any bearing on the outcome of a contest comparing striker fired pistols.
Glock may be cheap but it has to perform and as expected it did not.
Perhaps it was performance, perhaps it was not. We won't know until the details are released.

You probably recall that in the pistol competition in which the M9 was selected, pistols were disqualified for things other than performance problems.

For example, the S&W entry was disqualified because the design had insufficient firing pin energy.

You might also recall that the SACO entry had some performance issues but was still passed through to the bid portion to insure a competitive bid.

And, you probably also know that the final selection was based on the overall bid price in which the lowest bid won.

Best post ever that reminds us not to believe everything you read on the internet :D

Right ^. If a Glock is susceptible to the least amount of grit, then so is the Sig as its striker fired as well. I definitely wouldn't call Glock reliability a myth by any means, but I'm also not saying its the most reliable thing out there. I'm very interested to see why guns were disqualified and why Sig won, but I have a feeling it wasn't due to it outperforming others in environmental testing. Not saying the Sig is a bad gun though, if that's what it seems I'm saying.
