Short List Of American Made

Where are Colts made? I know they're not in the same league, but Wilsons, NHC, Baer, and Rock River pistols are all made in the US. Kimber, Kahr, STI, Infinity... And I think many foreign makers have plants in the US. Sig, FN.

That list is horribly incomplete. Colts are made in Connecticut. American Berettas are made in Maryland. Sigs are assembled in New Hampshire. Glocks are assembled in Georgia. Kimbers are made in New York. I could keep going, but as you can see, that list is totally incomplete.
 
ParaUSA (formerly ParaOrdnance) is now 100% American made as well. They up and moved all their manufacturing from Canada to North Carolina this year.
 
Wait a minute guys & gals. Too many to answer, but some of what you mentioned above are made in other countries. I know Mossberg use to have Mexico plants...maybe no more. But the list means completely made in the USA...not just assembled from parts made in other countries.

I admit I do not know the real list, so just double check and make sure about your pistols that you think are made in the USA.....I hope you are right.:)

As stated in my OP I was just trying to limit to handguns.

What I am hoping to come of this is a real complete list of American made pistols.

I agree that the list is woefully incomplete, but just to keep things straight
Rock River's are made in the Phillipines. Rock River, Charles Daly, the
STI Spartan--The frames, slides, and in most cases the whole guns are
manufactured by Armscor.

Rock River Arms are made in the USA. Rock Island pistols are made in the Phillippines. :)

Like I said, this is going to be hard. In the old days it was easy, "made in America" meant that all of the components and Assembly were done in America. Now companies are not really held to a tight legal standard. "made In America" could mean that over 50% of the parts are made here and the other made elsewhere. It's up to the manufacture to define. I am really thinking of a tight standard like Ruger. Ruger fabricates their own parts and then do all the assembly....now that's American made. Now my XD is not American made, although Springfield Armory is about the oldest gun manufacturing in the US.

This is not going to be easy, but it would (IMO) be good to have a list.

I think "made in America" should mean you fabricate the from raw materials and do the final machining and assembly. Raw does not mean pre-fab...it means raw material such as raw bar stock for barrels.

I think a small number are going to meet this criteria.

Then you have the issue of where the company is from versus where the guns are made. Most of the Glocks in America came from Smyrna GA.

There are several other notable companies like this, in many other industries as well.

Back in the film days, many would buy Kodak over Fuji to support an American company - all the while Fuji was employing more Americans than Kodak did.

The castings and forgings for the Glocks are still being made in Austria and sent to Smyrna, GA, to be assembled there.

Taurus machines and assembles some of their pistols in Florida.

XD's are made in Croatia as well if I'm not mistaken.

I'm pretty sure that Ruger is also American Made as are Kel-Tec and Kahr
