Love to see her go, hate to watch her leave.:p

I think that woman was universaly reviled during the last election.

Kerry's not getting the nomination. Gore's almost certainly not running. That leaves Hillary and a buncha other people who don't poll as well as Hillary.

On the other side, Condi's not running. That leaves Giuliani, McCain and assorted also-rans.

Out of that group of 3 I'll take McCain.

What about...

Barrack Obama? I haven't read up on him yet, but any opinions on him running for 2008?

Why have secret prison camps in the first place? So you can hide operations that are against the fundemantal laws of this nation. Our Constitution forbids such treatment. Which makes us no better than those we are fighting. In fact it puts us on the same level as Saddam Hussein. You would be outraged if local police departments started using coercion in confessions.

This hypocrisy has become a major recruiting tool for our enemies.

I guess we can erase the liberty and justice for all out of the pledge of allegaince.

Barack Obama might be running - then again, he might be pulling a Colin Powell and just pumping up his book sales for "The Audacity of Hope".

Really, what can you say about Obama? He gives a good speech, but does anybody here really have a feel for him?
I think '06 is too soon for him.

Eghad, I can understand your frustration of the situation, but I just don't know that all the blame can be placed on Bush, the man has been hated to the point of absolute utter shame by the Democrats and the news Media, and for what? He Won the Election in 2000 and 2004, and the Democratic Party Members are and have been pouting ever since.

I will be the first to admit that there has been errors made and Bush isn’t a polished Politician, but the fact remains he has done a lot of good in this country and his effort to keep us safe from Attack, has gotten absolutely no credit for it, from the Democrats, or the Media.

Our Economy is in pretty good shape, unemployment is down, we have more money in our pockets to spend, the Military is meeting the enlistment quota’s, and let me emphisize this point, our Military is totally a Volunteer Service, so not one person serving is there by force, and we have not been attacked, Granted Bush Failed to go out to sea and Stand as Gandolf did on the Bridge in the Lord of the Rings and state to Katrina “You Shall not pass” to protect the Gulf Coast area from her destruction, Maybe that would have helped I don't know for sure but I doubt it.

Another point that I would make is this, how many times has there been a leak of Classified Information to undermine His Office and Administration, for the sole purpose of discrediting him and the administration, now just for a second put yourself in his shoes, you are trying to do the best you can to protect the people of this country, and every time you turn around someone is telling the Media, and the world, how you are trying to accomplish that very goal, I bet you would be a bit frustrated too, if it were me I guarantee you heads would roll for a Breach of White House Security, and examples would be made.

Bush isn’t the best President we have ever had but then none of the Presidents were until after the fact, with the exception of Carter, he was a joke in, as well as out of office.

Every President in the History of this Country has in fact Lied to the Public and to the Congress, if they had not a lot of important things that got done, would never have been done, and yet, they were great, or bold, for doing so, I have said before, and will say it again here, “I don’t care who is in the office of the Presidency, they are nothing more than the whipping post, for the congress, and the people, it falls under the category, Damned if you do and damned if you don’t, sort of thing”.

I’m not going to be able to stop anyone from Bashing Bush, I just wish there was a degree of honesty, in the process of doing so, instead of allowing the talking heads, to start it and then others just being a parrot to the phrases, it does not a bit of good, except to undermine a persons character.

but I just don't know that all the blame can be placed on Bush

He has been publicy pushing for us to use torture. He has publicy stated that he as the President has "special powers" to overide the Constitution. We are going on almost 4 years in Iraq now. Rumsfeld had insited that he be in charge in Iraq, Bush gave the approval for that. I wonder how many times folks on his side of the fence have publicly leaked Classified information to bolster his popularity?

So how can I blame him.....easy. There is a difference between bashing and honest criticism.

He has publicy stated that he as the President has "special powers" to overide the Constitution.
Every president has made that claim. Lincoln had a congressman thrown in prison to prevent him from voting. He had all telegraph traffic monitored. No need to mention FDR and internment camps.

are going on almost 4 years in Iraq now.

And we were in Japan how many years? We haven't left Korea yet.

And we were in Japan how many years? We haven't left Korea yet.

When was the last time a US Soldier died from an IED or Car Bomb In Korea or Japan? Any secterian violence going on there?

There was violence in Japan and Germany, although not nearly to the same levels.

Although, perhaps the fact that we destroyed both countries to such a level that they expected that any serious efforts against our troops would be met with overwhelming force had something to do with that.
Given our concern with collateral damage in Iraq and Afghanistan (a concern that outweighs our interest in achieving our goals or protecting our troops), the insurgents and their foreign allies can reasonably expect that strikes against our troops won't be met with the kind of force we once would have used.

Any secterian violence going on there?

One would think that given the lack of violence and large level of cooperation in Germany and Japan and the amount of time it still took to get them going on their own, one shouldn't be complaining about a mere 4 years so far in Iraq. The bad thing about Iraq is that everyone knows the US doesn't have the willpower to finished the job, so all the BGs have to do is hold out for 2 more years and the democrat president to remove their impediment. The exact same thing that occured in Vietnam. The North knew the US would never do what was necessary to win the conflict, so they merely had to hold on until the US got tired of playing and went home.

In Iraq we seem to limit ourselves to a finite amount of troops who are shuffled around the country from place to place as violence breaks out.
My complaints are not that we witdraw. However that we do something effective to win this war.

Boston Globe:

October 15, 2006

WASHINGTON --Sen. John Kerry says he deserves a second chance if he decides to take another crack at becoming president.

The Massachusetts Democrat, who lost to President Bush in 2004, said it is a basic principle that "Americans give people a second chance. And if you learn something and prove you've learned something, maybe even more so. Now, I don't know what I'm going to do yet. We'll make that decision down the road."

Okay, when is he going to prove he's learned something? It appears he still can't make a decision.

Who wants to run 08?

Both Hillary and John Kerry and members of today's AMERICAN SOCIALEST PARTY. Let's hope we Americans will refuse to vote for a Socialest Government.

There in lies the problem with the Democrats when it comes to Iraq---they have no plan either.

I am not a Democratic supporter but stranger things have happened. Welfare reform legislation was passed by a Republican Congress and Democratic President. Bush has pretty well staked his position on the war and doesnt have much budge room it appears. I cant imagine the next president wanting to be called the one who cut and ran from Iraq. That's not a very good legacy.

A change in party might actually bring a breath of fresh air into the Pentagon and remove Rumsfeld and put some folks who know how to win a war in charge not a group of yes men. Rumsfeld is the guy who said baloney when told that this war was going to cost us over 300 billion in 2003. I hope Rumsfeld is enjoying his baloney and cheese sandwhich.

A new president also might be a chance to get more of the other world powers back on our side. Bush has pretty much managed to alienate a bunch of other nations with his unilateral adventures. I am not saying that we need to totally appease these other nations but a little honey instead of vinegar might work better.

I myself plan on voting third party......or a write in.
