Sccy 9mm... Great buy or hype.

I meant a lot of the pistols from the big names are new to the market so THAT particular model is hardly PROVEN. So it's nothing more then BRAND loyalty.

As far as the gun I carry. It's tested by me and practiced with extensively. I will NEVER buy a gun based on brand name, shoot one mag through it and call it good. Seems if someone posts on here they carry a (insert brand and model) you will have brand snobs and haters jump all over them simply because of its Brand. When in reality one CAN NOT sit behind a key board and judge the reliability of someone's pistol.

If it did cost over 500 it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'd probably call it one of, if not the most overpriced pistol on the market. I know brand snobs and people who bash a gun with no experience, but not everyone is like that. I won't comment on the quality of a gun unless I have personal experience with it or I'll post a link to other comments.

People love Taurus, but I've owned and handled enough of their semi-autos and especially their revolvers to know the quality is quite low. Poor timing, lead shavings on the cone from factory test firing and gradual cylinder play from one notch to the next is my experience and this is from handling at least 100+ Taurus revolvers. When I say such things people assume I'm a "brand snob" and discredit anything I've said.

In the end I can only ask that if every gun in the same class was the same price, would you still pick "X" gun as the one you'd want? If so then it's definitely something you want based on quality and features rather than price. If not, then save up for what you really want.

Now there is a constructive response based on research and fact.

Entirely. Like you, I owned one...serial number 00062X. Garbage.

Shot another couple of mags through my "truck gun" the other day without a complaint from the SCCY.

A couple of magazines, eh. There's real research and fact for ya...

I believe the serial number of 00062X was a rather early pistol manufactured by SCCY. I am guessing it was manufactured in the early 1990's and is referred to as the Gen. 1. It was also probably marked "SKY" vs. the much later Gen. 2 pistol marked as "SCCY". Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Gen. One I bought used was swapped out free of charge by SCCY, and they will probably do the same for any owner of an old model. There is a big difference between the two. I think this has been stated several times in this thread.

I would recommend folks not compare the old to the new. There is a different management at SCCY and the Gen. 2 is a totally different pistol quality wise.
