Savage or Remington

Ripnbst:
I only say that I have had excellent results with Savage. I'm not weighting the scale, I'm not lying. Out of the box they are excellent, I just happened to go a bit extra and trim out the other variables. No, I don't think bedding will cure cancer, but it cures variables. The thing I grow tired of is the constant drone of Remington fanboys that will mother**** a rifle they have never owned or shot.

My Savage Model 12 Longrange in .223 Rem has shot under MOA groups with the worst loads I have run through it. My pet load will give 3 shot groups of .15 MOA if I do my part. I can constantly get 1/4 MOA from 5 shot groups with sand bag under the real, and a bipod in the front.

A pic of the results of one of my test loads.

Here is a pic of it as it is now set up. Box stock with Warne rings, and bases. BSA 6-24x42 Mil Dot Varmint scope.

Total price of rifle, base, and rings, with 2 twenty round boxes of ammo was under $900

I'd by the 11BTH over the M25 as well since you can get it in .204 Ruger and still hav the laminated thumb hole stock. It only runs about $50 more over at Bud's Guns Shop. I'll bet if you look around you might even find it a little cheaper online at GB or other similar site.

I sure buy the Remington SPS Varmint in .204 Ruger before I bought a M25 Savage. You would save at least $50 from what I can find. I'm sure it will out shoot the shooter on most occasions as well. I think there are far better options out there than the one you are looking at.

You guys are still supporting Savage based on anything but the Model 25. M&P brings another Corvette to the table. Understand the OP is not buying the guns you are showing the results of. Rattle, I understand what you are saying but just so you know, I dont own so much as a Remington hat, and I am still saying get the Remington over the Savage MODEL 25!!!

The thing I grow tired of is the constant drone of Remington fanboys

And the pot calls the kettle black............ The man is talking about a Savage 25, as has been pointed out several times in this thread.

Can't we all just get along??? :D

Can I just say... As a Savage Whore (fanboy doesn't do it justice), can I say that I do not like the model 25 based on looks alone... It looks like an overgrown rimfire action, although in reality in has a three lug bolt and the internals bare little resemblance to a rimfire....

That's not even one of the choices. Like i said, this blind Savage fanboism (or whorism) cracks me up.

So what's your brand of blind fanboism (whorism) so I can get cracked up by it? If you're calling me a fan boy because I can buy a stevens 200 for 300 bucks and shoot sub-moa groups out of the box, then fine. Call me names all you want, I'll be the one shooting tiny groups for less money.

I will add to your quandry... The self proclaimed savage slut owns this..

Excellent....I'm not a Savage basher nor have Savage envy. The last 3 rifles I bought were Savages and am picking up another Friday. I also own Remmys, Rugers, Wichesters, and several others. My "quandry" is when the word Savage appears in ANY internet forum topic heading, The Savage guys don't even read the responses. It's like they just have a line saved in quick text on their computer or something. The Savages I have are tack drivers (a pink thumbhole Cub for my little girl, a Mark II varmint something or other, and a 12 in 204. The one I'm getting Fri is a 93 varmint something in .17) My point is that, unless I missed it, not one response has been "hey I have a model 25 and love it", or "the model 25 I had was a POS", nothing pertaining to the OP's question. Just blind brand loyalty without any consideration for the subject at hand. It's like leading cattle. That's the part I find ridiculously humorous.

You are proving my point. This thread was supposed to be about the choice between a Savage 25 and a Rem. 700. I haven't noticed you or anyone else step up and tell the guy their experience with the model 25, other than a few that have looked at them and think they are a lesser rifle to the 10s, 12s, and 16s that everyone seems to have good luck with, including myself. I looked at the 25 for about 10 seconds and put it down, as for just a very few more bucks I could get the same configuration in the proven model 12. It looked chincy in comparison to me.

To answer your question, my blind fanboism is reasearch, as the OP is attempting to do and not getting very good results from this thread.

This is true people. No one has mentioned having the 25. I think what is going on here is,most people no that any Savage will out shoot pretty much any thing out of the box. No expirence with model 25,but being it is Savage i can assume it is a tack driver as all there other rifles are. The quality being in the name Savage not just the model #. Remmys are OK ,but fail to a Savage other than looks IMHO.:D

I am sure Savage bolts are fine rifles...In all of my years(since the early 70's) with my Rem 700's they have never let me down and accuracy has always been excellent right out of the box.My Dad has a Rem 721 in .280 cal. w/the right handloads and shooter it still shoots one hole 3 round group at 100 yds. When that trophy Buck is 350-500+ yards out in that bean or corn field I always know my Rem 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag will accurately reach out and make a clean one shot kill. That rifle has proven it's self many many times over and over from Whitetail,Coyotes,to Elk

So Remington has proven it's self to me and I am a Remington fan...NOT!! a boy though you don't see to any boy(punk) steelworker for 30+ years

I agree you could have picked a better title, good luck with what ever you choose

If you decide Savage, get a stainless version if possibe,,,,their regular finish is terrible,,,,and that is being kind. The Savage does have a good trigger (accu-trigger).
