Thanx, havn't been able to find a set of originals at the gun shows in cali, it's a 150 series prefix, round butt. Not too many ppl have a set lying around lol, but that's the only reason to go to gunshows to find an old set of grips and old leather in those boxes...

a 150 prefix with a round butt set will be very hard to find indeed. Are you absolutely sure it is a round butt? I was unaware a security six was ever even made round butted, let alone a 150 prefix. a rare one I'd say.

Yah pretty sure, series prefix 151+ are square butt..Ruger site says mine was made in 1972. These current grips iicrc are herters target grips. I'd really like some stags for this peice but if originals are this rare think of the difficulty of stag.

150 series came in both round and square butt versions- usually Service and Security Six's were square, and Speed Sixes round.

Some 151-series Pachmayer grips will work with some minor modifications. My 150 series Speed Six came with Grippers for a 151 series on it. The previous owner drilled a new pin location in the bottom of the grip to match the different 150 series location. It worked, but I wasn't a huge fan of the Grippers and put a stock set of Ruger 150 series grips back on it. Oh, and there were two different pin locations in the 150 series grips, so if you find a set of grips you may have to drill a new pin location- but it's easy.

Herretts grips for the 151 series will work on a 150 series, btw.

If your 150 series adjustable sight Security-Six is factory original-then, it would have had a square butt. However, someone could have hand rounded the butt to match the Speed-Six?

Now you need a Service Six to keep it company.

You might as well throw in a Speed Six and a GP100! The 1980 Speed Six and 1982 Police Service Six here are NIB!!! Not for long though.

The first handgun I bought was a stainless steel, 4" Security Six. I bought it new in 1977. It had thousands of rounds through it including a good many of my early and questionable handloads I brewed up with my old Lee Loader tool. I still have it and its box and original grips and it shoots as good as ever. In fact, the action has gotten better over the years. I have had a couple of GP100's and just never liked them as much as my old Security Six. I'd like another. I have never met anyone who owned one that didn't like it.

This is my baby, she recently had a facelift (and a new pair of shoes).

I bought my Security Six in 1976, so it has the "American Liberty" inscription on the side of it. Mine also wears a pair of Herrett's Shooting Star stocks. I have the originals tucked away in a box somewhere.

This was my first .357. I bought it when I'd been married but a few years, and the wife and I used to take it down to the river bank for an afternoon of shooting at whatever we could find. It holds many memories for me. They are great guns. I'd love to find a 6" stainless in the same shape.
