Ruger Pistols

The worst thing I ever did...

was let my dad trade me out of my KP89 Ruger...

that gun would fire ANY ammo I cared to feed it, and ask for more... groups were tight, and it NEVER malfunctioned...

on a side note, my friends kp89 DID develop a majior malf... after going through the police academy, and all the shooting he was doing, he finally had to replace the mainspring and hammerspring... (estimated 20,000 rounds or more)

then again, it is STILL doing EXCELLENT with only those things... and Ruger fixed the worn springs for FREE!

I can't believe that this hasn't been mentioned yet:

If you buy a Ruger auto before 12/31/01, you get a $40 rebate!!!

Call me old fashioned, but if I was looking to buy a Ruger, now is the time to do it.

I wasn't really looking to buy one, but when I found out about the rebate, then I started reading some reviews of the P-series guns.....I'm getting cold sweats.

Skateboard tape

Just put a narrow strip of this on the front and back straps of the grip, and a small patch on the finger grip on the front of the trigger guard, and good to go. Has lasted years on my p90 and really improves your hold.

My bride and I decided to start working towards our concealed carry. I had experience with pistols and knew Ruger was the most reliable I ever shot or had.

Bought a Ruger p90 - Shot 233 out of 250 possible points in CHL test with hot brass sticking under my collar several times during multi fire portion.

Wife first got a smith J frame (gunshop employee issue).

Finally she went and bought a Ruger p95. Now realize that before September she had never shot a pistol or centerfire rifle in her life. She shot 224 out of 250 at the CHL test.

p90 is large and bulky, but I think you can run over it with a tank and pick it load it and shoot it.

1000 rounds since September and no jams in my p90.

So what about the mags not being over 10 rounds in Rugers. Do you really think you're going to get into a situation with CC that you need more than 10 rounds? Most CHL instructors say work on the double tap as that's all you're gonna need, especially with a perp running at you.

Plus the rebate checks come back quickly from Ruger and the Safety Decocker is ambidextrous and easy to do one-handed.

my 1/50th of a dollar

I have two Ruger pistols: My wife own a P95 pmm and I own a P97 .45. THey are both absolutely reliable, reasonably accurate, and the easiest to clean of all oursemi-autos. My *only* complaint about them is that they are not particularly easy to conceal.

So, I want to conceal a 9mm, I use my GLock 19 rather than the P95. If I want to conceal a .45 ACP, I use my Kimber Compact rather than my P97.

On the other hand, if it's winter, and I'm going to be wearing lots of clothes, either Ruger will conceal easily enough.

Personal opinion:

If you couldn't buy a CZ and get a better gun for the same money, they would be pretty good.

Flame away! :D :D :D

Seriously, on their own merits they are supposed to be quite good, but they are alot more crude than a CZ-75B for about the same price, and the CZ comes with a pre-ban 15 round mag.

I have 3 Rugers KP97D, KP512, and a new P89 which I shot for the first time this afternoon. Shot better than I could hold it. I think my KP97 is more accurate, but that may be getting use to the new pistol. CC is a Colt Cobra .38 with hyd-shock. For the money and my money you can't beat the Ruger. Would I buy another sure would, Would I buy a make other than Ruger sure will. I still have the HOTS for a SIG P226 9mm and that will be my next buy. The P89 was a early xmas gift from the wife. :p

I'm kind of curious about Ruger auto pistols also. The models I am curious about are the P-89D,P93D,P-95D and I think it was a P-90D all are 9mm with decocker, what are the differances between these models and are any of these hammerless in the decocker variant? Tank You and have a nice evening...

I've got a Ruger P-94 in stainless that hides exceptionally well in a Kramer IWB. Yes, it IS a thick weapon, but I've nver had it misfire for any reason whatsoever and trust it implicitly. Price is hard to beat for the quality of the weapon, and maintenance is simple; I heartily recommend them.

Rabon, since the P-94 is the only one I've got, I can't answer your questions, but I'll bet you can look here and find out...

I don't have a problem in concealing my P95. It resides in the small of my back when I carry. A covering garment appropriate for the time of year, and voila, it disappears!

Built like a tank-

Ruger semi-auto's are known for quality, toughness,
rugged reliability, and ease of cleaning; LOL:eek: :D
Seriously, these are very good pistol's; at a decent
price.:)

"/rant follows
Ruger only makes sporting arms??
What a bunch of hoooey. What sporting use does their AC556 Selective-Fire Rifle or their MP9 Submachine gun have?"

None. They are strictly forbidden for civillians. When did Ruger ever sale the AC556 to civillians or even help civillian owners of AC556? Words straight out of Ruger's mouth even sate that even the semi-auto version of the AC556 was never intended for mere civillians.

I have a P89 model and I love it.

I've been thinking about getting another Ruger (my wife be willing), and have flip flopping between the P95 and P94. Still leery about polymer gun longevity (although I have one). How do you guys feel about the 2???

I just don't like Rugers. I don't like the looks. I don't like their politics. I own a number of handguns and don't ever intend to own a Ruger.

Grouse2000.

I've been wondering if Ruger polymer is as tough as Glock polymer as well. I have heard of reports of spray cleaners causing harm to Rugers, but they were second hand. I've heard the similar reports on early Glocks as well. ?Quien sabe?

I've used Hoppe's No. 9, Hoppe's Benchrest, Swet's, amonia-based cleaners, Gun Scrubber, and brake cleaner on my Rugers (P95 and P97), all without any ill effect. The polymer on my Rugers appears to be as tough as the polymer on my Glocks.

Unless you want to leave your finger prints on your 95/97 do not use B-12 on them. I clean my Glock in the kitchen sink.

Rugers...

I own a Ruger P95DC. Recently completed an off-duty qual shoot with it with a 100% score, no FTF/FTE. In fact, I've put about 1000 rounds through the gun since I bought it. It has NEVER failed to extract, eject or fire. It is very accurate (more than I am).

It's also not bad to carry. I put it in a fanny pack or carry it IWB under a shirt and it does fine. No, it's not as skinny as a 1911, but it's narrow enough.

I'm a big fan of Ruger semi-auto pistols and will continue to be so. They make an excellent, reasonably-priced, accurate and reliable handgun.

P95 > P89

I have both a P89 and P95.
Both have been 100% reliable knock on wood.
I like the P95 a lot better. I only
keep the P89 because it is reliable. I shoot
the P95 better and I like the dimensions and
it wears well in a uncle mike IWB.
I like the P95 so much I want a P97 too.
