Ruger LCR 3"

Yes, except for the fact that the SAAMI pressure standard for the 327 Federal is 45,000PSI vs the 35,000PSI of the 357 Magnum. That would require a larger frame to hold a more beefed up cylinder.

Good point, with that said though I wonder if they made the .327 a 5 shot vs a 6 shot in the LCR cylinder if it would be enough. But at the same time, if you are going to have a 5 shot, than it makes more sense to just stick with the .357 as the advantage of the .327 in my mind is squeezing an extra round in.

I saw one on Gunbroker this morning and Davidson's showed 45 arriving at their dock today... at least we won't have to wait. :D

Handled one of these new 3 inchers today. Very intrigued but it appears that Ruger has maintained the use of the original short ejector rod - not sure I understand that one....

Yeah, kinda weird. If they're going to make a new barrel and lockwork with an exposed hammer, you'd think another half inch of ejector rod would be a piece of cake.

I had a chance to dry fire one at my LGS. It has a nice trigger. It is also very lightweight for a 3" gun. Easy to carry and conceal. However, it is uuuuugly !!!

Interesting . . . .

I used to carry a 357 LCR . . it shot well and was an easy carry due to weight. I traded it off on a Smith Model 36 as I just prefer the 36 (nothing against Ruger - I own three other Ruger handguns)

I went to the site and checked it out but couldn't find an answer to what I was thinking about - anyone know if this is a DAOor or with the exposed hammer, can it be fired in SA?

I have both a Smith Model 36 snub and a 3". To me, a 3" is an ideal barrel length - especially on a "kit gun". I can't help but believe that if this 3" sells well (and I think it will) that they will be making it available in 22 as well.

For those that like it as a "kit gun" but would like it in 22 - if you reload, just remember that you could also load 38 Colt Short and 38 Colt Long for it if you don't want a full power 39 spl or 38 +P for woods walking. I reload and likek to load all three - 38 Colt Long/Short and 38 Spl. I shoot a lot of 38 Shorts for general plinking. I only shoot cast. The Colt Short with a 120 gr lead bullet over 2 gr of Bulls Eye or 2.2 grains of Red Dot makes a fun plinking round and a great round to carry in the woods. Just another option . . . .

I haven't seen one of those in a LGS yet but look forward to taking a look at one.

If .327 pressures are too much, I'd happily buy two in .32 h&r magnum. I'm still kicking myself for passing up the old SP101 in .32 mag.

My 2" LCR X is DA/SA, and River's Spec Sheet for the 3" has the following statement:
Features an external hammer that allows it to be fired in single-action mode.

But the recently introduced 9MM is not the x model (exposed hammer), it has a snubbie barrel, and is without the adjustable sights.
Unless of course you have some inside information.

Let’s see,,, the 9mm version is sold as an LCR.
And lo and behold the 38 +p is also marked right on the barrel as a LCR.
So no I don’t have any insider information,,, I can read.

But did you read this thread is about the new LCRx 3" that according to the specs is only in 38Spcl. at this time. just thought you might know something else coming down the pipe from Ruger.

The only thing I do know from Rugger is that even though I send them a letter once a month about building a 5 shot SP101 in 44 special all I get back is a thank you letter.:(
But since Smith brought out the 69 I am hoping they will :)

I held an LCRx 3" today in my local gun store. Well umm uhhh I don't know how I feel about it. :o I will say this the grip on it is really nice and comfortable to me. Its cool (but ugly) and all, but I'll stick to chipping away at the amount owed on my 60-15.

I don't think it's possible to fit 5 shots of .44Spl in a SP101 cylinder. A 5 shot GP100 3'' would be nice.

I picked mine up last week and shot it a bit this weekend.

I really like this little revolver. With my standard pressure lead SWC loads I could easily take rabbits and eat right up to the bullet hole. With the +P loads it rears back a bit more (as you'd expect in a gun weighing less than a pound), but the Hogue grip tames it and follow up shots were not all that slow for me.

The rear sight adjustments are positive and repeatable. A big plus for me.

I had no trouble hitting the steel plates with mine, and my scores on the IDPA classifier, while slower than with my Glock, were just as good in terms of hits on the target.
