Subject: Virginia Update
Hi all,
A quick briefing on the situation in Virginia:
- We've got buses coming in from the Chesapeake/VA
Beach area that are being funded by a shooting club
down there. Mainly the club members are using them,
but the available seats are quickly being filled by
others who are interested in attending.
- The Richmond City Council donated about a dozen
buses to the MMM's. While the gun owners down there
protested this misuse of taxpayer dollars, the Council
hasn't budged. Thus, I suspect several SAS members
will be on those buses.
Interviews:
- Another volunteer and I have an interview tonight
with another French news magazine (Marie Claire) at
the local range. I'm not giving any American media
the opportunity for pics at the range after seeing the
hatchet job from CBS last night, but foreign doesn't
worry me.
- A 15 minute taped interview on WMZQ 98.7 FM (Country
Music station heard in metro DC) is scheduled for
tomorrow morning. Also, WMZQ will start playing our
PSA's this week, though they had to be bullied into it
by local gun owners.
- Finally, there's a 60 minute live interview on Diane
Rehm's show on National Public Radio WAMU 88.5 FM on
Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. They said that John
Lott will also be on via phone (I'll be at the studio)
and possibly David Koppel out of Colorado.
NPR will interview the Million Mommies from 11-noon on
Friday. You can listen online at
http://www.wamu.org/
and their phone number is 202-885-1200.
