Robber's gun wasn't loaded, so clerk shouldn't have shot him. Huh?

On further reflection on the blessing this individual did the rest of society as a whole....I would like to nominate him for the tfl darwin award canidate...fubsy.

Posted mine under my real name. Look for the one by a guy named Gwinn. How do these people survive crossing the street with such brains?

Rats. We had a similar news report about a year ago. cumbag tried to hold up an armed guard and got 6 .38 rounds for his terminal error in target selection.

You would have thought the deceased robber was the next MLK. Made you sick if you could stomach reading through the "reporting".

Me - I love a story with a happy ending.

I'm just wondering how long it will take for Jesse Jackson and "Big" Al Sharpton to get on this bandwagon. It's another "free" publicity opportunity.

Kudos to Cactus -- I waited for a day to see if anyone would post your "Rules" on the Jacksonville board. When nobody did, I took the "liberty" of pirating it and posting it there. It was too good not to share.

Credit where credit is due.

He deserved what he got.

I do feel sorry for the young robber's family
also. Where were they when he needed $80 ? Just as sorry as I would have felt for the store clerk and his family if the young robber had shot him for no reason.

So then, should this be considered "Rules of Engagement". Monday morn quarterbacks at works here boys & girls.

You're forever criticised for not doing this, or that. But the bottom line, is still the one ignored. This was an armed robbery, and nothing can change that truth!

The media can extrud this into any shape they feel like, but it still smells like sh!+.

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

 It never ceases to amaze me how far into the depths of stupidity humanity is willing to go. Loaded or not, this young thug pointed a weapon at the store's staff. He deserved what he got, plain and simple. Like Karanas said, occupational hazard. My response would have been the same, and will be the same if I am ever faced with an armed attacker.

Yes, it's sad that a young life ended. It's also sad that he made so many bad choices, culminating in his death. It's sad that his parents didn't train him to obedience and respect, so that he never would contemplated armed robbery in the first place.

I, too, am a father. I can understand the father's grief at the loss of his child. If either one of my daughters gets into any iota of trouble, their freedom to come and go will be seriously curtailed.

Rule #1 - All guns are always loaded.

It seems that this rule applies to not only the person holding the gun, but also to anyone else around. If you point a loaded weapon at someone, there is an implicit threat of death or grave bodily harm, and it is appropriate to neutralize the threat by any means necessary, including lethal force. Idiot got what he deserved, hopefully before he got into the gene pool. Too bad for the family, but had they properly socialized the child, he wouldn't have gone there. Why the moron felt it was more appropriate to do armed robbery rather than ask them for help is beyond me. Pride is a deadly sin, eh?

The wimp reporter trying to molify this crap deserves to work the midnight shift at the local Stop & Rob untill he gets over his cranial rectitus.

So, you guys really oppose performance of a "press check" on the BGs weapon before you commit in a situation? C'mon now... How hardline...

IMHO what the clerk "Had knowledge of" at the time he/she shot is the only relevent point. A masked armed person pointed what a reasonable person person would assume was a loaded gun at him. It was a "good" shoot. I am sorry anyone got hurt/killed but the robber made the choice. The clerks life is changed for good now. He will have to live with what he was forced to do in order to save his own life. It makes it worse that he NOW knows he was in no deadly danger. I came within a few lbs of trigger pull of being right where he was. That was over 8yrs ago and I still get the shakes when I think how close I came.

I read the article and found it more even handed than I expected. At least the reporter took the time research and CORRECTLY describe the kleck data. I have sympathy for any family who looses a loved one, but when a person makes the decission to commit Felony Armed Robery one must understand the ALL the consequences of that decission.

I too feel the same as the previous post by Nestor Rivera. His statement of:
At least the reporter took the time research and CORRECTLY describe the kleck data. is certainly correct.

I also have sympathy for any family who looses a loved one.

HOWEVER, when anyone shoves a weapon in your face, loaded or not, the response should always be: Save your own life and those around you first. Any other action would be described later as: "
Gee, too bad the shop owner didn't have a firearm to protect himself, too bad he is in this coffin for the $20.00 he handed over to the perp!"

Sorry, I have no sympathy for this criminal. The only ones I feel sorry for are the guys that had to pull the trigger. The rifle being empty brings nothing to the picture, NOTHING!!!!

3 days ago, just 2 blocks away from where I work, a convenience store owner and his wife were both shot and killed by a "disadvanteged minority youth" - DMY.

The store owner cooperated in every way but it seems in his fear he could not open the cash register fast enought - and was shot.

When the DMY couldn't get the register open himself, he turned around and shot the man's wife. I guess he did that just for fun.

The perp left without a dime.

So much for "criminal cooperation"...

Be safe.
