JMOfartO:
I'm old, and when I first starting getting "into" firearms the vast majority of the options available (and in use by the majority of leo's at the time) were the standard 38cal. revolvers of Smith and Colt.
So I started out liking revolvers..
Then when semi's gained popularity, I eased over to that camp because it was the "current" thing in guns, and I think an increase in capacity, and caliber, make them seem very attractive.
In the ensuing decades, I've meandered back and two between the two different types, and wound up with examples of both.
My larger caliber cc choice is my H&K P2000sk (V3), or occasionally my CS45. I have an LWS380, and several Ruger LCP's for mousegun carry.
But my wife's preference in her "nightstand drawer", "bump in the night" choice is a 357mag. Ruger Security-Six we bought new decades ago.
My preference for that duty, (which is intended to buy me time to get to the 12ga. pump riot shotgun in the closet) is a Crimson Trace Lasergrip equipped 3rd Gen S&W 5906.
I still love my model 638 AirWeight Bodyguard (w/CT's on it) and I consider that particular little snubby as my favorite of it's type, but the thickness of the cylinder (and it's pretty worthless without it) and the low capacity simply make it impractical for ME for cc..
So, I love both, have both, but the advantages of a reliable, accurate pistol for self defense makes more sense than a capacity limited wheelgun.
No offense to anyone who might disagree.. The type and caliber firearms we love individually offer plenty of room for disagreement between reasonable "gun lovers", as what works for me, might not work for another.
Best Wishes,
Jesse
