O.K. Guy's & Gal's-

Here's the scenario, I have just purchased the Smith & Wesson firearms manufacturing
plant in Springfield, Mass. Now, WITH NO
DISRESPECT TO ANYONE I want to staff it
entirely with TFL member's. Needless to
say, I will need a President & CEO, Vice
President, Chairman of the board, Marketing
Research Director, Law Enforcement Sales
Director, Civilian Sales Director, Firearms
Taining Co-ordinator, Company Treasurer,
Secretary to the President, Company Pilot,
Liasion Officer (between the company and
the government), Daily Operations Manager,
Benefit's Co-ordinator, Public Affairs Officer, Protective Services Officer In
Charge Of Security, a tour guide, etc.
You may add other positions as you deem
necessary; but please remember to use ONLY
TFL member's screen name's. I will give you
my list at the conclusion of this briefing?
Most importantly, I am seeking individuals

for the company, it's worker's, and it's
customer's!!! :) :) :) :D :D :D

Thanks In Advance,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

How about me for Director of Information Systems. You're going to need web based eCommerce, data mining for targeted sales efforts and financial analysis. Also need a computerized order processing, accounting, and inventory system too.

Resume on request.

If you are SERIOUS, I have an MBA and 20+ years in materials management, logistics and information systems. I can build you the tightest ship in the industry in terms of computerization, automation and enabling operational performance.

If this is just hypothetical, shame on you for teasing me!

I have a Bachelors in Accounting, just finished up at Utah State. I don't think that I'm experienced enough to run anything, but I would make a dang good staff accountant, Mr. Ala Dan sir! :)

Bachelor's degree in public relations - experience in advertising, radio & tv production, print journalism and photography. Military photojournalist. Currently produce presentations and large format print stuff for a major corp.

I hope that this is more in line with what you are looking for in this thread, Ala Dan:

Rich Lucibella: President and CEO (I’m a brown noser, I know)

Ruger45: Liaison to the NRA ;)

Coinneach: Public Relations Director

Futo Inu: Legal Affairs Director

Correia: Merchandising Manager

Oleg Volk: Director of Marketing

Al Mondroca: Director of Buttercrunch Distribution

DorGunR: Perimeter Security Chief

Apple a Day: Education Director

TheBluesMan: Director of Muzak (Hope you like it Blue) :)

Hey,

I'm open. Lets move the place from the liberal coast though. Currently and PM at one of the big IT oem's.

Having been to the factory, I'd like to offer the following suggestions:

S&W has an excellant inventory system which they adapted from the Japanese. Unlike other manufacturers who, based on market projections, schedule a production line for a specific product, they keep their inventory limited to about 10,000 guns on hand. What they sell today, they'll replace tomorrow. That way, they can handle most orders which comes in quite quickly and keep backlog and overstocking to a minimum. No sense messing with success.

Also, the production folks have been organized into quality control teams. Besides producing or assembling a certain item, they are tasked with finding more efficient with which to accomplish it. They became so good that S&W told a lot of lower and middle managers to join the production folks on the workline or face lay offs (this was years ago). By the way, tour guides generally are staff members who work production, customer services (gun repair), or Armorers' School Staff (who hail from the production line). The advantage of retaining these folks is that they have all the insights which they can share.

The S&W Academy has some excellant instructors and facilities. They also have the most diverse collection of smgs for any "SMG Instructor School." While most students generally brings their own, they are given the option of trying a multitude of different smgs for familarization. As mentioned before, their Armorers have years of production line experience and are selected not only on knowledge but on communication skills. Would not suggest replacement of them either.

How can I fit in? I've got managerial experience but would be happier at the Academy (plenty of instructor credentials) or even just being a peon in the Custom Shop - which I don't have enough machine experience for. How about an apprenticeship there?

BTW folks, Springfield has very few redeeming qualities about it. Besides the S&W factory, Academy, Springfield Armory National Historic Site and the Indian Motorcycle Museum (about 1 block down from the S&W Academy), there are very few things nice about the city. Better & safer to live in the suburbs and commute.

I want to do the test firing and accuracy checks. Of course I will also need one of each of the compeditors models (for comparison study of course) to make sure that ours are of equal or better quality. A few million rounds and a nice indoor range will round things out nicely.

Greg

Oh, and lets make FUD Director of Governmental Sales. With all the things that happen around him we should have Washington shut down for good withing a week or two.

You forgot purchasing manager and I'm willing and will make myself available.

I have almost 15 years experience in purchasing managent in various fields (textile, bicycle production, consumer goods, electronic goods and now computer/networking products) and familar with production and JIT inventory system.

Just tell me when :)

Very good, so far!!! :D :) I always knew we had
some very good, and knowledgeable people on board. Keep 'em coming for a couple
of day's; and I'll let you know what I think?
Look at the "Blues Man's" entry, that is what
I'm looking for!!! :) :) :)

Have A Nice/Safe Day!!!

I'm available if the "chief beer tester" position isn't filled yet. I insist on telecommuting, though.

If it's filled, I'd be willing to be the General Manager of the new Heavy Machineguns Division.

HEY! What about company historian!

I want it! I want it!

I've got a degree in history, I'm a writer, I've got publications/publishing experience under my belt (including a stint with American Rifleman magazine), and I live and breath S&W revolvers.

Hey ChrisII,

I just saw that you nominated me for the R&D in revolvers. Hey, I'll do that, too!

That would be an EASY job! Virtually no work involved, for you see, S&W revolvers reached a state of absolute perfection shortly after World War II. Everything since then has just been dumbing down the world's greatest revolver design.

There's no beer tasting involved.

The official beer of S&W will be......

Shiner Bock! :D

Bruegger,

I just saw the line about telecomuting... ROFL!

I can image it now...

Going into the fax room, and there's Miss D jamming bottles of Shiner IPA (doesn't exist yet, I don't think) into the fax machine...

"What the heck are you doing???"

Miss D: "I'm faxing Bruegger his latest files..." :)
