Remington 700 recall, anyone else affected?

I found out about the Rem trigger recall just hours (literally) after closing on a Rem 700 CDL .223 LH on GB. I decided immediately that:
If I sent in the gun it would likely take months to return;
That sending in the gun would risk the cosmetic and functional aspects of the gun - given the scale and pressure of the recall;
That I would be better off just buying an aftermarket trigger - in my case I chose a Jewell since I preferred a single stage for bolt guns;
That if I didn't order one quickly the crush to take this tack would wipe out the market for aftermarket triggers
So I bought the Jewell. I've read the controversy of whether the Jewell is robust enough but since my use will be principally range work seems like the right choice. And it wasn't easy to find a LH trigger for the gun.

My .300 was safe but my SPS wasn't. I figured why replace junk with junk and ordered a Timney last week. I just got it and it is very nice in the quality department..

I was going to send my Remington back, but after reading all this I decided to order the Timney 512 trigger which is on back order for two weeks. Got home from work and the box from Remington is on my door step.

You can use right hand Timney or Rifle Basix triggers in Rem 700 left hand rifles. At most you will have to counter sink one hole. I have used right hand triggers on several left hand 700s.

Neither of my 700s are impacted by the recall, but I'm still affected. Planned to replace one of the triggers with a Timney, and with the recall they are outta stock everywhere I've looked. But I'm glad I don't have to put up with the PITA that other guys do that have to send their rifles in.

Remington 700

I think I may have voided the "warranty" on that "stock trigger" long ago.......

Was wondering if anyone here has actually sent a rifle back by UPS. I dropped off 2 of mine at the factory a month ago. And then I discovered I had a 3rd one that needed to go back so I called them to have UPS take care of this one. Anyways 2 days ago they dropped off the box, I packed it up, taped on the return labels and its ready to go back. My question is, do I need to inform UPS to come for it, or will they come on there own when in the neighborhood. PLEASE NO SUGGESTIONS TO BUY ANOTHER TRIGGER, I'm satisfied with what I have, just looking for info on what others did to return.:confused:

I was, I contacted them and got shipping boxes and labels. After pondering a bit, I said the heck with that and bought some Timney 510 replacements from thee company, specifying desired pull weights. I received them last week, will deal with them next week.

I get the fact that lawyers will protect the company, but I've got shooting and hunting to do.

EBR works has six Timney 510s in stock as of right now. Got one for my buddy's rifle, had it in two days and installed it Saturday.

I have the Rem 700 SPS .243 and Remington says it needs to go back. I was looking for a good reason to replace that trigger. I guess I just found it.

nope. i purchased my last model 7 in 7mm-08 in 1996(?). i did a timney trigger, scope it, and killed quite a few deer with it. i don't think i ever bought a remington since.

I ordered a timney calvin elite which shipped out today. I have come to appreciate remington's folly for forcing me to upgade.

one word... "howa" never had this issues.
