Remington 700 recall, anyone else affected?

None of mine have the type of trigger that is recalled, I'm not sure what models of 700 have the XMP, but mine are ADL and a couple BDL rifles.

I had 2 ADLs that had to go back, I dropped them off wednesday morning at the factory. The guard that filled out the return order told me that not all are bad, only the ones with an excessive amount of bonding agent on them. But they needed to visually inspect them all to see which ones needed to be repaired. I'm assuming he ment the glue they put on the adjustment screw. Anyways thats the story I was told.

And after all the complaints by certain people about the original dangerous rem 700 trigger ,to have the the new one recalled makes me laugh .
When I took a rare tour of Rem in the early 70s there was some sence of QC. Today they'd ask QC ? Now it's only a pencil pusher/ lawyer term.

Got my Timney installed this morning... very nice trigger... set at 3lbs out of the box with no creep or over-travel that I could feel.

If Remington contacts me, I'll offer to send them their trigger. ;)

I'll buy a new trigger when...

Remington fixes or replaces the one in my NIB, unfired rifle.

I've already sent in the request to have the forms and box sent to me.
I've already waited two years to even fire the gun.
I'll just send it back, get it back whenever, and try it then.
If it doesn't work to my satisfaction, then I'll modify it.

Haven't ever had a problem with my Remingtons.
I'll play the game and see what happens. :)

Call Timney Triggers and talk to customer service. Good people. I bought a Timney for my 700SPS from Midway Shooting, ordered it online from the online catalogue. Got it in the mail and it was not the right trigger. Called Timney and the customer service rep told me to send it to them and they would replace it with the correct one for free.

As somebody above stated---get the model with the safety. It requires few tools and is a good do-it-yourself project. And damn sure a lot better trigger.

All but two of mine have been replaced with either Timney or Jewell, not concerned with anything they have to peddle. The two I still have that are factory, have been around longer than 20yrs and work and function fine.

Bought a used ADL 2 weeks ago. Ran the serial number the other night to see it is recalled. Major bummer. Guess im shopping for an aftermarket trigger. Its going on a moose hunt in October and im not risking letting the factory have it back.

Got my 510 Timney today will be installed shortly. Still have not gotten a box or info from Remington, no need now. I have been a Remington guy for years but I may have to start looking in a new direction.
Anybody interested in a factory trigger (just kidding)

Had anybody received their return boxes? I filled out the form on the 14th, still nothing. No way am I sending my rifle back to Remington, but I will be sending them back the XMP trigger. I'll include a note stating how unhappy I've been with the inconsistent trigger pull, and let them know that they can just keep it.

Woohoo!! My Timney Calvin Elite just arrived, it's so pretty it's a shame no one else will ever see most of it. I spent the extra $10 and got the nickel plated trigger. I've never wanted anything flashy on my 700, but when I see that shiny trigger, I'll know what it is :D

I've also always been a big fan of Remington, especially the 700. But all this got me thinking that (eventually when I have the $$) I would like to build a 700 not using a single Remington part! It can be done easily enough, and it would FAR surpass anything Remington sells. Even a trued/blueprinted rem700 action barely compares to a Surgeon 591.

Edit-I understand rem is trying to make money, but who wouldn't pay more for an action with integral recoil lug (instead of a washer) and picatinny rail?

I like remington and Timney together. I have one of the newer ones but the trigger has never been tried because it's in my toolbox with some other remington triggers.

I had put money down to reserve a Rem 700 Stainless CDL, .223 Rem - Gun of the Year at Don's Hobby Guns in NE. They usually get rifles in Jan-Feb, they're built, but have been held up by the factory until the triggers can be checked/repaired.

This is the 50th anniversary of the .223 Rem, so the guns should be popular, if they ever ship.

Bummer! I really wanted one, but settled for a used .223 Rem, Mod 700 SFLV that works for me.

The folks at Don's are upright folks and informed us of the situation by e-mail. I really wanted one for my birthday, but that's not going to happen this year.

The Rifle Basix trigger I ordered should be in tomorrow. The factory trigger was just okay, and I was planning the upgrade anyway.

So my case is awesome.. My 700 was built just before timeframe of those which are part of this recall.. The factory Walker trigger was defective on my 700 and I sent it back to Remington.. Guess what trigger they installed???? Yes, thats right its an X MARK PRO.... It will get a Timney this time...

Instead of musical chairs its musical triggers!!

Don't feel too sorry for yourselves if you have an affected rifle or two.

Gun stores and distributors have to send back about all the Remington 700s they have. That means they can't sell them until they come back, so it's a lot of lost dollars if they take too long to repair, not to mention time that it takes to box and send them.

Besides that, lots of dealers have had 700s on order for months and can't get them because the factory has been holding them until they can be checked and repaired.

I hate it when the Q.C. is P.U.!

Orion6 Where did you guys find your Timneys and Rifle Basix triggers? Everyone seems to be out of stock.

I got mine from Red Hawk Rifles, out of Grand Junction CO. Great prices-saved me $40 over buying it from Timney!! Although it said online they were out of stock, I called and they had 1 timney elite left to sell me. Whoever I talked to on the phone was super nice and the shipping was fast. Definitely a company I will do business with again.

If the online inventory doesn't show it's in stock, definitely call.
