Remington 1911 R1 - Who is right

I sure hope the purists who won't ever touch anything not made in the USA don't try to figure out where their "American" cars and car parts come from.

Jim
My wife's Honda Accord was assembled in Ohio from 70% American made parts, so it works both ways. lol

And my 2017 R1 was made/assembled in Huntsville. Heckuva nice gun for $399:

Armybrat, That is what I have been trying to get across through this whole exchange and you did it in a sentence. Thanks. :)

Armybrat, Thanks for the picture. I have the plain Jane like yours but with ILION, NY, USA as the right side slide marking. It might be cool to buy a new one with the Huntsville marking to go side by side with it in my rack. I purchased mine NIB back in December of 1911. It was a bargain back then for $550.00. Sounds like you got a good deal or they have come down in price.

Yep, 'Bama rules the SEC. If things had gone a little differently (meaning the U. of Al hadn't been in such a financial pickle back in 2013), we would have wound up in Tuscaloosa instead of Starkville. Wife interviewed for a position at U of A and they wanted her but then they were forced to pull the position posting due to a hiring freeze.

I ain't arguin' with anybody. Just said mine is a cool gun for the price and was made in Huntsville, Alabama. My first R1 (purchased several years ago) was made in Ilion, NY. Both guns are equally nice in fit & finish, but the yankee pistol came in a hard plastic box while the rebel piece arrived in a cardboard box. :)

lamarw - Bought this latest R1 from GrabaGun a few months ago when they ran a special sale at $499 each, plus Remington had their $100 cash rebate promotion going. Had to pay $7.99 shipping, the $25 FFL transfer fee, plus Texas' 8.25% sales tax. It was still cheaper than any other deal I found online or locally.
