Well, I'd posit that sometime after we established a body count might be tactful and civilized. How much later should that discussion take place, Rich?
Nor did you get it. If a troop transport ship went down with thousands on board, would you think it kinda low-rent to debate whether it's worth the expense of hoisting it from the ocean floor even before the next of kin were notified? I would.....and I'd think it all the worse if, in that debate, we started pointing fingers at those who failed to put their life vests on.You are not the person from whom I expected maudlin melodrama.
Rich, your comments reflect a sense of dignity and decorum that clearly demonstrate your empathy for the victims of Katrina. However, I respectfully disagree with your conclusion.Well, I'd posit that sometime after we established a body count might be tactful and civilized.
Fair enough question. How about we compromise and state that it's a bit ghoulish to debate razing their home city until after we've at least attended to their immediate needs for survival...luxury items like food, water, showers and immediate needs healthcare?Should the people displaced by Katrina have to wait 3, 4, or more months before a discussion even begins about how the country is going to help them put their lives back together?
Look, I haven't closed this thread for the same reason I didn't vote in the attached poll: y'all have a right to debate it, distasteful as it may be to me personally. Just remember though, TFL has Members in the stricken area. Sooner or later, they'll get back on line and check in. They'll be greeted by this thread and others like it.
