Quality 9mm at cheap price?

Smith and Wesson M&P9. Barrel should work and you should be able to find it for under $500. If you want cheaper the SR9 would be a good choice. Not sure the barrel length of the SD9 but I've heard good things about that gun out of the gate.

Cabelas current prices... Ruger P95 $299. S&B 9mm $9.99 for 50 rounds. Great gun for the money. 9mm is on sale for $10-$15 all the time.

You could look at the Kel Tec PF-9. New are going for $250 to $275. Mine has been ultra reliable and is fairly accurate.

This post is almost a month old with no response/updates of the OP.

Why would that be an issue? Nobody really cares if the OP is still around as long as they can throw in their 2 cents into the thread. This isn't about the OP any more...It's about us now.

If you can't find a used Glock 17 dirt cheap, check into the Hi-Point 9mm. Read all the reviews you can find. I don't know much about 'em but aside from them being crude and heavy, I don't recall hearing anything bad about reliability. 9mm is the cheapest caliber for practice ammo here, maybe there, too.

He's in Canada...

He's hamstrung to 10 rounds...

The clear choice here is to switch calibers to .45, save up a bit more, or cut back in other areas.

Up there, they are knee deep in Norinco 1911s. He should grab one or two of those and not look back. Get some bumper pad 10 round mags, he'd have the ultimate blaster for a Canadian!

I'm with defjon, my advice, since you're in CA, would be pop for a 1911, reload for .45 and cast your own "boolits", price for your reloads would only be somewhere between .05 and .10 each at the most....

If you've stumbled across this thread because you have a similar or the same question and are in the US then I would suggest a used S&W, there are 5904s on gunbroker now from Cole Dist for around $250 and 5906s can be found for a little over $300.

FMK

FMK C91 9mm excellent carry gun at short money compared to others with like features. Brand new east coast price $360. 10 round mag. comes with 2 mags interchangeable sights (included) hard lockable plastic case. Great gun got the money.

I agree with the Norc idea for a cheap 9mm, considering they're plentiful here in Canada and illegal to import into the USA.

The Norinco NP-22 is a Sig P226 clone that I would recommend. It sells for $359 Canadian at Marstar. While it's not perfect like the Sig, the fit and finish of the NP-22 has really improved over the last few years.

I also own the $199 dollar 9mm Tokarev Norinco clone (NP-17) that my wife with small hands still enjoys shooting. It's solid forged hard steel, heavy, and has little recoil. You could use it as a hammer, a crow bar, shoot it from a cannon, etc. and it would still shoot straight. It's surprisingly accurate, and no FTF/FTE at all now that it's so broken in. My wife can take it apart and put it together blindfolded in about 2 minutes.

Even after buying more expensive toys, I still keep these in my gun safe and bring them to the range. They make great lenders and beater pistols.
