Quality 9mm at cheap price?

24/7

I would recommend the second generation Taurus 24/7
High capacity, reliable, GREAT trigger.

It also meets you 4" requirement. - it's weird being from Texas having to see people saddled with that kind of thing.

If you want to save some money, don't get the 24/7 OSS.

Hope this helps.

I don't have one, but have read good things about the Rock Island Arms 1911's and they make them in 9mm. Under $500 for a RIA tactical 9mm w\5" barrel.

Thanks all for the recommendations. It's still looking like a SR9 as far as barrel length and price range. Glocks are too much money up here imo. $800 + for a Glock 17 (including tax). i know, ridiculous. Take any American gun price and add about 1/3 or double the price and you'll get your Canadian pricing. Boy when it comes to guns i wished i lived in the states.

There is a license in Canada called a 12.6 which would allow current possessors of that license to obtain handguns with barrels less than 4.14 inches, however if you did not possess this license before the liberal government took over in 1998, you can never obtain it. The only way you can currently get a 12.6 prohibited license is if you are either 1). a judge 2.) a high level prosecutor 3.) you own businesses and make rather large money deposits to banks at night, or in extremely rare cases for self defense.

I would like to suggest 2 different pistols.

1) Ruger P89 - This is an older pistol but I had one for years and it was flawless. Will shoot anything you put in it, the recoil is very mild and it is accurate. It is a full size pistol so range shooting is what it would be good for. If you look you can find one in very good condition for $300 - $375

2) Rock Island 9mm Tactical - I just bought one of these about 3 months ago and I love it. It is very fun to shoot, I have put several rounds thru it without any problems what so ever. Good trigger pull right out of the box and looks great. The grips leave a little to be desired so I replaced mine. It has a full length guide rod so disassembly can be somewhat challenging. The finish is parkerized, wish it were blued but for $450 it is fine.

I'm going to answer a different question and hope I don't get flamed. You may want to consider a stainless Ruger GP-100 in .357 magnum. It will serve for self defense and work better in the woods for camping, hunting, etc. The "4 inch" GP-100 has a 4.2 inch barrel and solves your barrel length problem and capacity problem. .38 specials can't be that more expensive than 9mm's.

Nobody has chimed in with it, therefore I will.

Why not a surplus/used Beretta 92, or a Taurus PT-92? They have 5" barrels, and hamstrung 10 round mags are available.

Over and over again we see these posts where somebody wants a really good gun for a "cheap price". Hey, if you want a really good gun for cheap then STEAL ONE!!:D

Ruger P95

I've seen the blue version new selling for $279.00 in the ATL area. About $310.00 for stainless. The P95 is a great gun at any price, but the intoduction of the new striker-fired Rugers seems to have pushed down the already low price of the P95. For under $300.00, I do not see a better value. Mine is a winner. 15+ rounds of felon repellent and eats whatever I feed it.

Peachy.

Sorry...

I did not read the post about the Canadian restriction. Hopefully my recommendation will help someone else.

Look at the full size Bersa 9mm. I do not have that one, but the Bersas I own have been flawless.

Peachy.

Ordered a Ruger SR9c and picked it up from my local gunshop this afternoon. Enjoyed running about 100 runds through it but having said that, what I really enjoy is the Beretta 92FS (seems to fit my hand) and they can be had from J&G sales in good to very good condition for $420 out the door. I own more Berettas than any other handgun, so I am a fan but both my old er Ruger P89 and the SR9c are also accurate and fun to shoot. Hope you find what you are looking for at a reasonable price.

CZ 75 of some type. You can eventually get a Kadet kit that converts it to 22LR. Best of both worlds. Mine (75BD)is still in the break-in phase, I really enjoy shooting it. Very nice pistol.
Also check out EAA, they sell a high quality copy of the CZ.
Stoeger Cougar- definitely worth a look. People that have them seem to like them a lot.
Consider the used market as well. Used Glocks & XDs are pretty common (if your tastes run that way). They are durable, accurate & used prices are pretty good because there are a lot of them.

How About S&W ?

Since no one mentioned S&W they can be found at reasonable prices used or some new. They started with the model 39 then 3913 and kept introducing new models frequently. The Sigma is very reasonable new.

I owned a new model 909 and it would hit 1 gal. milk jugs 3 out of 5 shots at 110 steps. No malfunctions with lead 124 gr. bullets.

All have thin profile for concealment. Very good to excellant quality. Just A Thought.

If you are looking for more "bang" for your loonie, look into a TT33 Tokarev and the many commie clones. I think you can get the Norinco 213 up in Canada. Here in the states an M57 with 116mm long barrel and 9rd mag is 200 bucks. http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/handguns/tokarev/p/yugo-tokarev-m57-tt%2C-7-62x25-m-57-pistol-very-good-condition-back-in-stock!/cPath/16_235/products_id/4432 Ammo is around 10 cents a shot and 1260 round spam cans can be found for 100-120 bucks. I think you can get the Norinco 213 up in Canada if you are wanting a new gun.

The round is basically a longer case 9mm that was necked down to 7.62mm. Lots of bang with every shot. Look up the ballistics of the 7.62x25 and see.
