Pushing the envelope a little... (Prostitution)

I've been through three rape crisis intervention classes, and they all say the same thing: Rape is a crime of violence, and sexual satisfaction is not the primary motivator. Dominance, control, and violence are. While some may state that prostitution affects the numbers of rape, this is mostly coincidence, and the truth is, one has little effect on the other.

As to entrapment, it can be if not done right. It's tricky (no pun intended :D ). The hooker must a. make the proposal, b. state the amount of money, and c. offer the explicit act (oral sex, etc.) without being asked by an undercover cop. This amounts to a word game that career hookers know all too well.

Hookers are all too often the victims of violence themselves, and we take that no less seriously than violence done to any other person. We have a number of major cases, including a recent arson/murder, that were cracked thanks to information provided by ladies of the night. Sometimes, they're the best eyes and ears we have on the streets, and it pays for us to have a good relationship with them. "Bust the hookers" is a big game. We know it; the hookers know it, and after we both go through the motions, they don't harbor ill will (as long as they're treated right), and neither do we.

I think it is sad that Prostitution is illegal (when both parties walk away satisfied for cash), and the legal profession is perfectly legal and both parties walk away angry.

Ban Lawyers! (Sorry Lead)

Yes, what a good thread. A couple years ago I'm not sure what side of this debate I'd be on, but it didn't take me long today to come to the conclusion that..........I don't like peanut butter and cheese sandwiches, but if you DO, then lay back both your ears and shove it in; it ain't hurtin me none so why should I care? ;)
