I've been wanting to make one of these for a while now and I finally had the time. I found a good old $100 shotgun at the gun show a while ago. I took it home an stripped it down, cut the barrel down to 20 inches, 1.5 inches longer than minimum to make damn sure I was legal. I had a heck of a time finding a pistol grip for this particular model. (Sears and Roebuck- Apparently a copy of a Winchester 1200) So being a carpenter, I cut the butt down and shaped it as best I could to mimic a good short grip. I sanded the new grip down and restained it to match really nicely. I had some good grip tape from another project and figured with a shorten up 12 gauge with a not so perfect pistol grip, I could use all the help to hang on to it. The grip tape covered how nicely the stock too the stain, but pretty isn't the goal. Well maybe a little. Home defense is it's purpose, but I have to go put a few rounds in it to feel the kick.
Just thought I'd share. Advice? Constructive criticism is welcome.
The pic with me gripping the trigger was just to show how my short hand can still get behind the grip to absorb the shock and still reach the trigger well.
