President Bush (Part 2)

How would you rate the President as compared to his predecesors?

Personaly, I feel that he is doing a better job than I would be capable of given the same circumstances.

Also, compared to past Presidents-war time or not-I feel he is doing an admirable job.

With all due respect sir, you're rating his performance based on how you, a lay person would do? I was hoping he would have performed somewhat better than you or I. I was wrong.
I'm sure it comes as no surprise here that I feel Bush will go down in history as one of the worst if not THE worst President ever!
I'll reserve my "schtick" for later posts but from a miserable failure on Homeland Security/FEMA/ US Borders/ Guest Worker Prog./ to eroding our feedoms and calling it the Patriot Act to Shock, Awe and DAAAHHH, to the failure to anticpate the horrible loss of life due to instability created in the wake of a fallen dictatorship (That's what happens when you listen to Dick instead of your generals)..to the biggest "spendorama" in world history and putting that debt on our children's children rather than to engage in that undesirable "pay as you go."
With all the English words this guy has murdered he should have taken the time to look up at least one....Insurgents! I believe he'd never heard it until staff looked it up for him. Now it's being reported that in an attempt to save his "legacy" everything's on hold but Iraq. Unfortunately he's ridin' a dead pony!
34% approval rating and droppin' like a hot rock!
Cheney's "likeabilty rating is 18% Heck, the tax collector's at 20%!
This is taking on the appearence of a bad prize fight that you wish the ref would just stop!:o

..and the hits just keep on comin'!:barf:

Thanks for asking!

Well, he showed a lot of promise and talked a big game while we were still numb from the Klintoon adminstration, then it all kinda started going down hill from there.

I would place Bush in the same class of presidents such as Grant, Andrew Johnson, Wilson and Carter.

Of the presidents I personally remember...

He's better than Clinton, Carter, Bush (41), Ford and Johnson.

I think he is doing a decent job.

I think history will show him

as one of the worse... Worse than Carter and Clinton put together no matter your political leanings.

He gets an F- for the public relations fiasco on the port deal. With as much public outcry as that generated and a I dont really know about it answer but its going through anyway.

D on wiretapping. I dont know if anything being illegal is done, but it would still be a good idea to not bypass the FISA courts. What is the administration going to do when they get a big case and the court says that it was an illegal wiretap?

D on taking care of the veterans. Yes he can say he has increased funds for the VA but when the VA has to go back to Congress and ask for more funds that means the administration has underfunded them.

F on the medicare prescription program. Many seniors fell of the system and some say it is confusing. It also does not have provisions that would enable state buying programs to get competitive prices making medicine more affordable.

F on bipartisanship in government. Some Democrats would get an F too.

D on the war plan for Iraq. All we get is the soundbite "stay the course". I have not even seen the hint of a timetable nor a real plan. The Iraqis are going to have to take on the burden sometime. With a rough timetable they might get some motivation to do so and it would raise the support for the war.

F for thier "We dont have to tell you attitude". Part of your job as President is selling the American people on his programs. Heck he even has some of his fellow Republicans criticizing him.

F for the energy program. He has said we are dependent on foreign oil it has taken him 5 years to realize that? All we have is a promise for research. If I was giving the oil companies big tax breaks in time of record profits, there should have been some stuff in the program that these oil companies would be required to build more refineries and distribution sytems to increase the production and transportation capabilities.

More to it than just the 2nd Amendment

Bush is our worst president ever. He has protected our Second Amendment rights but has trampled over most of the others.

Eghad-
Not that I necessarily agree with your list, but I will add to it:

D- on PATRIOT, the most sweeping abridgement of Civil Liberties since Lincoln. This was a knee jerk demand from the Congress and the Administration had a golden opportunity to rebuke attempts to step on the necks of Law Abiding Citizens and, instead, reinforce our national pride in being the Most Free Nation on Earth. Instead, they fed into the fear mongering and have set the Executive Branch up for all manner of power grabs by future Presidents; meantime, We The People get more dependent on Federal Police Power by the day.

B on No Child Left Behind. Where it fails, it's generally because the Teachers Unions have blocked it.

President Bush talked like a conservative, but turned out to be a middle of the road/wishy-washy moderate, just like his Father.

He has made multiple serious mistakes that should never have happened, often alienating his base for no good reason.

He has generated more hatred and hysteria than any President ever (in my opinion much of it overblown partisan claptrap).

He has also stood steadfast in his beliefs concerning national security, and not fluttered in the wind of public opinion.

He is a truly mixed bag. I think his scorecard will ultimately depend on how the mess in Iraq turns out. If 10 years from now there is a semi-western style democracy in place in that place, he may go down as one of the most visionary men ever in the White House. If the great Iraqi experiment fails, there is not much that will ever be put on the plus side of his ledger, except for rallying the nation after 9/11.

He is a truly mixed bag.

Yep. Like all the others.

I give Bush an A on not being swayed by public opinion (at least not too much). Give me an idiot that is consistently an idiot as opposed to one who changes idiocies depending on which way the wind blows!

first term..good job..he has guts and morals. second term..not so sure,Im beginning to wonder who he represents..american citizens or big business intrests, big oil intrests and big profits for the prescription drug companies.

I see jobs going overseas and he says hes glad these people get the work,me too but what about jobs here?I see record profits for oil companies..illegals coming in and not much being done to stop it- cept other people jumping in and doing it, he says they only take whatnobody else wants to do..right, construction jobs, cooks, cleaning companies and that popular big chain we all know about.meanwhile production is up and wages have stagnated.gas going back up again.blamegame like some odd shell game..guess where its at?yeah..get used to it.cha ching$$

theres people starving, people that have to choose between heating their homes and buying needed medicine and they cant afford neither..employers dropping medical coverage because they "cant afford it", so they hire an illegal, pay em under the table and theres no reason to follow any laws cause..theyre illegals, they get hurt, just dump em out on the street or threaten to report them.like some episode of lifestyles of the rich and slovenly.theres now illegals working in most every state so much that theres more coming in with no places to go.theyre being exploited and dont even realize it.

on the spying thing..let the illegals in,cause it helps business grow while we cant trust a american to do the same job or live an honest life.it stinks.

I did not like clinton at all, hitlery will be worse..much worse if she gets in next.I dont know where bush fits in,but with all the new acts and such, whomever gets in next could have a real field day.mistrust breeds contempt.

Personally I was a stout republican all my life.George W has put a stop to that.
I'm on neither side .IMO they are all in it for themselves ,and to see what kind of legacy they can leave.I trust none of them.Bush is in it for the money and so is Cheney.I'm almost ashamed of the course this country has taken.I believe Bush is a complete idiot when it comes to politics. He has **** on everyone,he's alienated us from the world. We are thought of as a fat war hungry country.
He(Bush) and his cronies have neatly and quietly taken away more and more of our rights and freedoms. As far as his 2nd ammendment support,I dont buy it.
I think if he could take away that right easily ,he would.I'm completely dissapointed in the country and its leaders. Its no longer "for the people,by the people".They do what they want and we sit back and eat it.Voice your opion to loudly and I'm pretty sure you will be in some way silenced.I honestly think this country could be heading for a modern day revolution.:(
So i guess i give Him and his cabinet huge F-

I'm watching to see how long it takes for the mods to close this thread.

But while it is still open, I must say I voted for all the Bush's and I am generally conservative. But it appears to me we are on the wrong course. Since 911 we have invaded two nations and become a part of an ongoing killing field in Iraq and what seems to be a global religious war. We have run-up a sickening federal defecit with no end in sight. And we have not solved important issues like SS, affordable health care, loss of jobs to overseas nations, etc. or even 'homeland security.'

It appears to me this administration is using fear as a political weapon. Fear is used as a pretense to overspend, erode our Constitutional rights, and to line the pockets of the administrations supporters (Haliburton, Big oil, military contractors/Wall Street). In some ways it reminds me of the McCarthy era.

And I voted for him.:(

Also, compared to past Presidents-war time or not-I feel he is doing an admirable job.

Lets see... with Clinton we had economic growth, an 8-year stock market boom, huge budget surpluses, jobs, and peace. Hmmmm....

Something tells me Bill may have also found a better way to deal with 911. Think about it: that guy had a solution for everything. He could have gone over there and talked the Muslims into a love-in with Israel.

AS a republican I am not a big fan of big government and large budgets and huge deficits, not to mention the "Patriot" act. Bush gets a D- from me.

Absolutely right! Clinton came from nowhere to the Presidency. That made a difference. The American success story! He was and is a brilliant statesman....a political genius and something "W" can never be ...an intellectual! He felt your pain.. while this donut "W" caused your pain! He would have built on all the World's goodwill toward this country post 911 into an effective weapon on terror. A worldwide effort on terror by the world community. Instead "W" deliberately set out to effectively alienated that community against us with "toughguyisms" and has spent $400 billion of our kid's college fund without anything to show for it but blood and buffoonism!
I've not learned anything new about "W" in 10 years but I hope the electorate in this land learned something about themselves and the effects of the great manipulators fear and greed!
One thing I know...Karl Rove et al have secured their place in hell!

Oh, the humanity!
