Don't forget the labor unions. They may not be what they used to be waaayy back in the day, but they did manage to stop that port deal to the UAE.

Hmm, Fred Thompson is winning.

"Rudy is a NYC Italian"

But can someone, anyone, from the Northeast get elected president? Who was the last one to pull it off, JFK?

John

More likely, none of the Dem field are gun-friendly enough to warrant jumping ship.

Ah, ignoring the softly spoken majority for your loud fringes.

I forgot the stats, but aren't NRA members ## times more likely to vote, ## times more likely to donate to political groups or candidates, and essentially ## times more active in politics in general?

Ignore us gun-toting _____'s at your peril.

Oh, I wasn't addressing you, I was addressing the Democrat candidates in general.

For clarification, I was saying that gun owners are a voting demographic that you certainly don't want to put aside.

Slash I love ya like a brother, in a decent manly way of course, but is it necessary to SCREAM in your sig...

O wait, my bad, I'm the condescending and supercilious numbnuts that tosses inanity between the two parts of my screeen name...;)

Please ignore...

applesanity,
Oh...gotcha. Yeah, parties got to have their blind spots.

WA,
Uh-huh. I think that Brad Pitt pic had an effect on you :D

Vote

Not a fringe... I have not missed a Presidential Election since 18 years old. As long as the Dems stay out and we get someone to support the Armed Forces I will be happy.

Fringe

Only fringe here is on my buckskin coat.
Special interests R us. The NRA is one of the most effective special interest lobbying groups.
Nothing wrong with special interest, if all citizens participate in the governing process. If citizens do not participate then you can end up with fringe. or nore appropriatly frays.

The presidental election will be won by a candidate who is for leaving Iraq right away. It is something like 70% of people that believe that going into Iraq was a mistake and that we should leave now. So no Republican candidate besides Ron Paul might win the big election. Although he is a huge long shot to win the primary, I think he has more chance in the main election. Even if you are for the war, you have to think about the future outside of that issue. Unless there is some intervention from God, we WILL have an anti Iraq War president. So either you have a Dem who gets us out of the war and then trashes everything else or you get a conservative who takes us out and leads everything else correctly.

At breakfast today I chatted with a Marine on the way to Fayetteville. He wasn't serviing, said he was over there in '91. I was thinking eveyrone got involuntarily re-upped nowdays. Anyhow, he said they should have finished that mess in '91 the first time so I said, know why they didn't? And broke the news that they knew we'd wind up in charge of an open-ended sh_thole. Gotta give him points for being gung-ho, just hope he's not big on voting.

I think that is it in a nutshell. It's 99% sure that the next President will lead us out of Iraq. I would rather it be a conservative, but any candidate will have to overcome Bush's damage to the real conservative party. People must understand that electing a Republican is not continuing the party of George Bush. Since Bush distanced himself effectively from conservatives, then it is fitting that they make people understand he does not represent their views.

I did not know this when I made this post, but it looks like newt agrees,
