This is a FUN poll on scopes where you pick what you would actually use (and could afford) BUT you DON'T have Leupold or Nikon as a choice! When you pick one give your reasons also. Yes.... I have too much time on my hands.. :D

I left Leupold and Nikon out because they are obviously the most popular of the "masses". This way we can find out more about the other manufacturers.

I'm in the market for a hunting scope, and I looked at the new Refield's the other day. I was very impressed, to the point that I'll probably order one in the next week or so.

I also like Swift Optics. They're darned fine scopes for the money. We've got several in the family and everyone who uses them likes them. One acquaintance was looking through my 6.5X20 Swift and thought that it was a $1000 scope. I told him "Nope, it's regularly about $250.00" If you haven't tried Swift Optics, they're worth a look.

Weaver isn't on your list. My go-to hunting rifle is a .30-06 that carries a Weaver fixed 6X scope. It does everything I want a 400 yard hunting scope to do. It's simple, reliable, dependable with good optics for an under $300.00 scope.

Love my Ziess that I have and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Have had the pleasure to look through a Swarovski and a Khales and liked them. Wouldn't mind the coin for a Nightforce either.

If I were looking to buy a lesser priced scope and have, Bushnell's Elite scopes are very nice for the money.

Wouldn't mind giving a Weaver or Vortex a whirl either.

Well out of the choices you have up there I currently have Bushnell, Burris, Redfield, and Vortex, Simmons, Tasco, and other. Zeiss would be my scope of choice since Leupold and Nikon aren't up there. However my favorite non-Leupold scope that I own is my Tasco rifle scope. It is a 1.5-6 Titan scope and it is far better than any of the scopes that you have listed up there except the Ziess/German optics. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

My Simmons and other scopes are the bottom of the heap and delegated to rimfire and .223 or smaller duty. I'd say the Burris FFII and Redfield Revolution are great serviceable hunting scopes, I've been really impressed with my 4-12 Redfield. My Bushnell Elite 4200 and Votex Viper are on par with my Leupold VX-II scopes. My Tasco Titan is on par with my VX-III Leupold and Nikon Monarch scopes.

I chose Bushnell,,,

When I bought my first new .22 rifle a few years ago,,,
I had been out of shooting for a long long time,,,
I trusted a salesman at BassPro on a scope,,,
He sold me a Bushnell Banner for $89.00.

It's a nice scope that gets bounced around a lot,,,
The rifle lives behind the seat of my pickup.

So far it has never gone off zero,,,
It has reasonably clear glass and a crisp image,,,
And I can murder feral tin cans at 100 yards with the greatest of ease.

I have a different rifle with a Leupold Rifleman scope on it,,,
I can tell a bit of difference in clarity between it and the Bushnell Banner,,,
But not enough difference to say that the Bushnell Banner is a crappy or poorly made scope.

It's just made for a different price level is all.

I actually own a Zeiss/Leica scope marketed under the Hensoldt brand so it was a gimmee.:D

I've always been impressed with Burris (though I don't think I have any of the early Philipino stuff).

The Redfield looks tempting.

Then there is this...

I picked Meuller because I want them to be good. It is more of guess, but they seem to offer a decent scope at a good price.

Boy. I only have one rifle that needs a scope, and I've been waffeling for over a year now. I've tended to take the scope money and just purchase more handguns. :D

Why not Leupold? I voted Zeiss of the choices listed. The Conquest and Leupold are about the same price and are my top 2 choices. I like the glass a bit better on the 2 Zeiss scopes I have, but as an all around hunting scope find Leupold hard to beat.

In the budget category I'm impressed with the new Redfields

Actually looking for a scope to put on my ar when I get it. I think Ima go with the mueler. Looks like a good set of glass for a real good price. Im a die hard leupold fan and cant stand a zeiss. Buddy of mine had one and he swore by it. I didnt like it one but. My $300 leupold looked 5x better than his $1200 zeiss.

Voted for the "new" Redfield Revolution. What's not to like...made in the USA, VERY reasonable price, rich heritage, and full lifetime warranty backed by Leupold. Recently bought the 2-7x33 version and it is a very nice addition to any rifle.

I recently purchased a Kahles 2-10x 50 scope. Kahles is the worlds oldest scope manufacturer. Kahles is now owned by Swarovski. I would have purchased a Swarovski but the local distributor only stocked the "german" 3 post reticle, where I could get the Kahles ex-stock with a duplex reticle-which I prefer. The reason I looked at Swarovski & Kahles is I wanted the best clarity available in a hunting scope. I am very happy with the optical clarity & brightness of the Kahles & have done direct comparison with 3-10x 50 Leupold V3. With both scopes set on 10x, the Kahles is both clearer & brighter than the Leupold when looking through under moonlight. During daylight hours the difference in clarity between Kahles, Leupold & even well made chinese scopes is not that significant.
I own optics by Swarovski, Kahles, Zeiss, Leupold, Bushnell & Tasco & would rank them accordingly. I have to admit that even the oldest, cheapest & worst ranked scope - the 30 year old(+) Tasco fixed 4x that sits on an old .22, still holds zero & is plenty clear enough to go hunting with. Never had any issues with scopes Ive owned.

Mueller is my choice for relatively inexpensive scopes. In my experience, they are equal to optics that cost twice as much.

My Encore carries a Burris handgun scope. It is very, very good. Because of it, I would look at Burris for a high-end rifle scope.
