I have a STONER 4inch stretch band holster thats under my left arm. Its very comfortable so I leave it on whenever I carry. In the car for 2/3/4 hrs no problem. I carry either a Glock 19 or my favorite a 1928(yr) COLT Detective special 38.

I bought a cheap $20 nice nylon holster at a gun show once, fits most guns, its made in the USA. I wouldn't do it with a gun without a safety(Glock) but a 1911 or m9 I would and place it for long distance driving.

I already try this out in my car, to see how well CCing will fit me, it does good.

CCW in pocket (BG .380) and either Sig P250sc .40 or M&P 9mm in cup holder.

Now I'm no twig but I don't see the practicality of your IWB while seated with a seatbelt on.

I don't use a holster while CC'ing.

While driving my main CCW stays in its usual location, the CC pocket of whichever bag I am using that day.

The bag goes on the passenger seat if I am driving alone. If have a passenger then it depends on what bag I am using. If it is my messenger bag then it goes in the backseat. If it is my Murse then it sits in front of my seat beneath my legs.

If I do have to put the bag in the backseat then I generally try to make sure my BUG is easily accessible.

So, if you were run off the road by a road rager, where would that bag (and your gun) end up?

While I'm not necessarily opposed to off-body carry in a vehicle, I firmly believe that off-body carry needs to be secure.

For example, a friend of mine has a secondary glove box under the steering wheel of his Silverado. He puts a J-frame in there while he drives. Push a button, and he has a revolver, but until that button is pushed, the gun is in the box, in an affixed holster.

OTOH, loose in a vehicle = "projectile" in the event of a collision, or even a hard stop.

Being a lefty

makes it not nearly as quick to access from tuckable holster on door side. Most of time, like this morning as I am getting ready to go visit Austin, TX, the LC9 will be in the tuckable, and my Para Ordnance GI Expert ESP will be under the armrest.

My EDC is kahr pm9. The Fobus paddle holster I use can ride either strongside, or crossdraw. When I'm driving, I slide it around to crossdraw so I can access it if needed without messing with the seatbelt. If somebody else is driving, or we're just going down the road to the store, I keep it strongside ... during the hot months when I pocket carry, I keep the gun and holster in the door pocket until I exit the car. I've practiced so I can get the gun and holster into the pocket without spooking the populace ...

My CCW stays holstered, but there is another one in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat. I am right handed and it is almost impossible to draw with a seat belt and shoulder harness on. I don't want to be seen holstering and unholstering in a crowded parking lot.

If i'm out and about while not at work i actually use 2 holsters at the same time.

The first is a Bianchi left handed pancake style holster that sits just in front of my wallet(i'm a lefty). The others are usually a paddle style holster that sit between 1 and 2 cross drawin the v of the seatbelt.

I know i wouldn't have time to get to my left side, draw, aim and shoot lefty so i cross draw, unholster while still sitting and reholster in my normal holster. The paddle holsters are to big and doesn't keep gun next to you, like a good leather holster will

Yes, I keep my gun holstered at all times. There is no reason to holster and un-holster your gun while driving. The more times you handle it, the more chances you have for making a mistake.

My firearms is always in the holster while in the car..............but the holster is not always on me while in the car.

On shorter trips around town, it stays on me (IWB SOB).

For longer trips, it gets tucked under my right thigh, muzzle towards the rear, grip facing out. It is almost invisible (maybe 1/2" of grip sticking out from under my leg) and is quickly accessible, but not in the way.

I carry 2 firearms just so that I can have one accessible when I am seated in the car. I have my Cougar on my right hip and my G27 IWB, appendix carry. And they are both in a holster.

When I am seated my G27 is very easy to draw.

For me, the 3:00 position is the only IWB position that is comfortable standing, walking, sitting, and driving.

Shoulder holster is the most comfortable for me, but it only works with certain kinds of clothing.

Again, a concern I have with what some folks are doing is that a vehicle is a potentially high-G environment. Some of you seem to store your weapons in locations (map cases, under your leg, etc) that, in the event of a collision, are unlikely to actually keep the weapons in place.

This could be a problem if you get run off the road by a road rager, for example. Might not be able to find that gun when you need it, if it went flying elsewhere.

In a generic wreck, this could mean your gun departs the vehicle and gets found by a kid.

I don't care if people prefer off-body carry in a vehicle, but it should be secured in some way that will hold the gun against sudden accelerative forces.

Only take gun off when going in somewhere I can not carry like work. Other than that it stays IWB on me even in the car.
