So, you're asking if my pistol is in its holster, as opposed to ....where exactly?

On the car seat? Console? Under my thigh? Wedged between cushions?
In any of those cases, a collision can send the weapon bouncing around inside the car with undesirable results.

Inside the console or glovebox? Why make it harder to access?

If your firearm's carry position puts the gun out of reach while sitting and driving, perhaps it's time to consider changing your carry location. Or obtaining a snap-on holster that allows you access while driving.

I've found that on a long road trip, a good shoulder holster is the most comfortable thing for me. Topped with a light nylon windbreaker in summer it makes getting in and out of the car easier and nothing digs against me. Alternatively, a cross-draw holster canted way over works well for others.

Anywhere in the car. I picked up a galco kingtuk IWB holster and I cant find a spot where its comfortable around the house and while I'm sitting in my car. I haven't left the property yet cause I don't have my ccl, I'm going to hand in my permit later today.

I do except when I go to work. I can't carry on the job, so I just lay the gun on the front seat going and coming. When I get there I toss it in the glove box, and lock the doors.

Placed in the center console and if stopped by LE all I do is close the lid and I'm legal within the state stautes for vehicle carry. Lucky that the console door roles up and to the left over the opening. Can close it without alarming LE.

I leave it holstered at 3:30 or 4:00. I can reach it from there fairly quickly if I need it, and less handling and re-holstering decreases the risk of unintended discharge.

When I'm getting dressed in the morning, if I know I'm going to be in the car more than a half-hour or so, the shoulder holster starts looking really good.

If I'm IWB, it stays there (Desantis Insider at 4). If I'm pocket carrying, there is a map pocket on my car seat right below my legs in my car. I'll put the pocket holster there with the handle up.

I use Rosen OSW 5JR holsters at about the 5:00 position for both of my ccw guns, and don't have any problems just keeping them on while driving.

Depending on the pistol I will usually place the weapon in my glove box. It is easier to retrieve that way than fighting with my seat belt. I am a CCDW instructor, and we are required to teach it that way.
