Pocket Pistol Other than LCP?

Honestly, after reading about the difficulty that some have shooting these little things, I'm leaning more toward a 22lr for a pocket pistol. Much easier to shoot accurately. And I think a few 22lr rounds in the face will stop any threat that a full size 45 in the chest would.

I wouldn't be so easily discouraged, if I were you. :) which completely Isn't to say that you shouldn't use a .22 if that's what you like. But my wife is 4'9" and absolutely TINY, and she shoots hot .357s out of her little J-frame. If she can manage it, I see no reason you shouldnt at least give other options a try.

Any pocket pistol

can be attacked by pocket lint. I bought a sheet of vinyl and in a couple minutes made a small pocket pouch that keeps most of the dust bunnies out. The gun slips right out when I need it. Speaking of that, I often find myself slipping the gun from my pocket when in the car, and placing it in a more accessible spot, such as my jacket pocket or the center council (sp?). My big belly and the seatbelt make quick draws from the front pocket difficult.

S&W J Frame. Either a 638 or 642. Reliability is everything and they are no doubt stone reliable. 5 158+P lead hollow points plus two more speed strips of same. Can carry it anywhere except swim trunks..just have had too many glitches with 380s..Walther that sucked and an LCP that was less than stellar. Not bad, but it was no J frame.

S&W 340PD is an 11 ounce wonder in .357 magnum. It cost me over $800 including tax several years ago but I believe it was the best $800 that I ever spent. When I pull the trigger I get bang every time, no doubt.

If cash is an issue, the 442 or 642 are just as good in .38 special +P and they cost about half as much.

+1 for the Taurus TCP

Im with Tennjed on the TCP. I have one and I really like it. It definitely is not a range gun. But, then again that is not it's purpose. I recently shot a Kel Tec, don't know the model but it was the single stack 7 round 9mm. My TCP bucks about as much but it is something I can honestly say will fit in any of my pockets.
My cousin has the Sig mini 1911 .380 thing. It's real nice, but like triple the price.

For my money, the TCP is the winner.

Kel-Tec P11 fits in my pocket (DeSanti pocket-holster) giving me 25 rounds using one spare mag.

-Cheers

I have a TCP & a 642, both have Crimson Trace Grips on them..
Makes them highly accurate & more deployable in a CQB encounter.
Everyone will have something to say about what they don't like about certain guns. It's all about finding what you like, & training with it. Dry fire, front sight focus, trigger control, & grip. Till you don't think about it & you just do it.
Combat Accurate can be achieved with any gun with proper training, it's not the gun, or the round you chose to put in it, it's where you place that shot when a 1000 thoughts race through your mind before you take a life in defense of yours or a loved ones. Buy the gun that fits your hand best & you feel comfortable with, the rest is training your mind & body.

I have a LCP that has been completely reliable from day one. Never has it misfired or failed to opperate. After over 1500 rounds it gets my vote that is of course unless dress alows me to pocket carry my LC9 which has proved to be just as reliable and more accurate.

I've had a Sig 290 (9mm) for a cpl weeks now...good functioning in a small but powerful package...and I think the 9mm is a much better SD round than the .380. The 290 is a single stack 9mm, compact and pocket sized if you have medium pockets but definitely not as small as the LCP. I've found that the Sig is very controllable even with two fingers on the grip...and accuracy is in the 2" range at 10 yds from a combat Weaver Stance. No bobbles, FTF, or FTE to date...less than 100 rounds thru the gun however, and at over $500 it's not cheap. HTH's Rodfac (30 Cal's Dad)

The Sig 290 always gets left out of the conversation when people are talking about the Kahr PM9, Rohrbaug R9, and other similarly sized guns and I don't know why.

I do it myself, I always leave the P290 out of the discussion.

Pistol

Just to be different from all the other suggestions. How about a Colt 1903 in .32 caliber or .380 caliber? You can still find decent ones at a bearable price. Personally, I think them excellent pistols. Perhaps the best pocket pistol ever manufactured. They are accurate, excellent pointers, reliable and hold 8 rounds. Just a tad larger than some - but that helps in the shooting department. I agree with General Patton, John Dillinger, Al Capone and many other men in that time period that chose to carry one (Dillinger carried two). One additional good point is they retain their value quite well. I suspect you would always be able to get your money back and perhaps a profit.

Springfield XDs.

Very accurate and the recoil is much more manageable than I expected.

I like that XDs!!!

I love pocket pistols. Attached are pics of my favorite. My three baby brownings.

I also have an lcp, and a p238. The p238 was cantankerous at first, but after two trips to sig, works great.

love or hate the 25 cal, the baby brownings are a heck of a pistol and very reliable from my experience. There is nothing more pocketable, other than the naa mini revlovers.

Smith 642 or 442 with crimson trace laser grips. I dryfire my 642 often with snap caps which also allow practice reloading from the speed loader. I am more accurate with it than my glock 27.
