pics of your safes?

You guys need to buy more guns and more safes.

No respectable safe should be used to store your handguns and ammo together.(LOL) So far I have 4 safes.
I just got one today that I'm going to bolt to the floorboard of my Jeep.
I have a big Browning safe, I have a small rifle safe that can hold up to 8 rifles, a handgun, and a few pistol magazines.
The smallest wall safe can hold up to 6 handguns.
My ammo is stored in 4-.50 Cal ammo cans and 2 additional shelves full in the closet.
I think I need a fire resistant ammo safe, now that you brought up the subject.

No pictures! I'm just not going to show everything I have in case some BG is watching. The rifle safes are in 2 seperate locations, some 15 miles apart.
I haven't figured out yet how to move that huge Browning gun safe. It's got to weigh 1,500 lbs at least. It's still in the garage of my friend I bought it from. I'll get it moved sometime in the spring.

Man, only three fellows have posted pics? I do not have a safe yet but as soon as I do I will post a pic. I know there is hesitation to posting pictures of the collection but honestly I do not think it hurts much and it gives us bottom feeders something to strive for!

Uhhh... yeah

Playboypenguin, between my wife and I, we have 4 pistols, 2 hunting rifles and a very primitive H&R shotgun. Your safe alone is probably worth more than my entire gun collection.

My "gun safe" is my night stand, my wife's purse, one of the top cabinets in my kitchen, my smart carry holster and my bedroom closet (where the rifles are).

I am just poking a little fun at you - PBP - I sincerely have a lot of respect for you after reading a lot of your posts. But I gotta ask - do you keep anything out of that metal box for HD? Do you have a bedside pistol?

In my nightstand is a Glock 30SF. That is just in case I do not have time to get to my HD gun (which is under the edge of my bed)...a Remington Home Defender double pistol grip shotgun. :)

I hope one of these days to build a collection like the ones in some of the safes shown on this thread.

Especially PBP's safe, very nice collection!

The guns being displayed in an orderly and organized manner makes the collection look more impressive than it really is...dont believe me...buy some of those racks and see for yourself. :)

Good info on the sentry safe. I was actually thinking of swapping for a larger one that had a fire rating but think I will just get a second smaller safe and insurance instead. I don't see the average criminal getting into one very fast, they still weight 350lbs.

My modest accumulation, not a "large" collection by any means.
This safe is a Cannon Executive and is supposed to handle 24 long-guns which turned out to be more like 16 scoped rifles.
I'm actually about ready to buy my second safe, and will dedicate one for hand-guns and this one for long-guns.
When you purchase your first safe - bigger is better and some type of adjustable shelving is a must.

I will pick up a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in stainless steel, 45LC this week.

Until I pick up another safe just for handguns / I built a plywood 2-tier shelf - covered it with a little non-skid - using Cabela's handgun racks have been storing the handguns I shoot often like this:

Ahhh crap. I'm not going to show any of y'all mine. My safe would win the "pig-sty of the year" award. I've got way too many guns and other crap crammed in there....plus some of my long guns simply don't fit. It's Ugggggly.:D

those are some amzing safes. love the collections and arrangements.

Yeah, I've got a bad case of "gun-safe envy" going on about now. Some of the interiors and rack systems are really great. I really do applaud you guys who have all of your guns organized in rack systems. I should take a picture of my "rack system" just so y'all can see how the "other half" lives.:D:D

FLHT

I really like that safe of yours FLHT, great find and very unique looking. Is that a wood interior?
Thanks!

No it's all metal inside, and out, with the "optional woodgrain upgrade". The original owner bought it new from Mosler in (I believe) 1940. He gave me the original invoice and shipping bill of lading which is kinda cool. This is a picture of the tags on it, which I really don't understand.

FLHT,

Those tags are Underwriters Laboratory's ratings for real safes.
You have the only real safe that is pictured so far in this thread. The others are actually only RSC or Residential Security Containers. They may have some ability to slow a thief or to protect against some heat but not to the extent yours has.

T-20 burglary means that it is rated to withstand a 20 minute brute force attack from trained safe crackers using all common hand and power tools, in addition to pressure applying devices.

Class A Fire rating means something about how long it can withstand some level of heat for which I can't find an authoritative source.

In response to a Browning gun safe CB900F noted that: "The RSC rating involves a 5 minute attack using a hammer and a screwdriver."

According to CB900F (of thehighroad.org) who is in the business. "If it isn't at least 1/4" plate steel on all 6 sides, U.L. will not rate it as a safe."

I am not an expert of safes. I have done a little reading and some research. This link is to a business which deals in guns safes and real safes. http://www.zykansafe.com/ The owner of zykansafe.com posts on thehighroad.org as a1abdj; and has much to say that I found informative.
There is some information there which will let you know the differences and what Underwiters Laboratory's ratings mean.
