Parent Arrested for Carrying Licensed Gun Into School

I just wish I could sit on this mans jury. This would be an easy vote for me..... NOT guilty.

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.

The internal effects of a mutable policy are...calamitous. It poisons the blessings of liberty itself. It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is to-day can guess what it will be to-morrow.

DocH, thanks for that update ... pretty humorous.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Merski said that his department issues no directions on where a gun may be carried when a permit to carry a concealed weapon is issued, but that ignorance of the law is no excuse.

If a person asks a specific question when he or she receives a gun permit, Merski said, the Sheriff's Department will answer it. But the state gun laws are so voluminous that no one could recite them all to every person obtaining a gun permit, he said.

"If a person wants to know all the laws and restrictions, he can go to the law library at the courthouse, the public library or research it on the Internet," Merski said.
and, this one is a gem

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>"State law says a gun may not be carried into a school," Merski said, "just as federal law states a gun may not be carried into a bank or a federal courthouse."
Now, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that federal law prohibits carry in a bank ... as I recall, that is a common misperception.

So, in Sheriff Merski's own words we see why this kind of infraction is, to be blunt, bullsh*t. Gun laws are already so voluminous that they are simply a trap for the average person ... even the chief law enforcement officer of this county is confused. And, as those of us on this board know, a law such as this has not only done nothing to protect children, there are very solid arguments that these laws have actually put our children at greater risk.

So, this fellow was indiscreet, but this kind of charge is exactly the kind of thing that is so wrong with our country right now. And, it is time we started saying so.

Because the 'Project Exile' program has now gone from putting felons in prison for possessing guns, to the enforcement of many bogus gun laws. The War on Some Drugs is being joined, rapidly, by the War on Some Guns ... and those 'Wars' are pounding the Bill of Rights into an early grave. Damn shame.

Police said Neiswonger purchased his 9mm semiautomatic handgun in 1996 and obtained the permit some time after that.

Erie County Sheriff Bob Merski confirmed that Neiswonger has a valid gun permit, one of 10,000 on the books in Erie County. Statewide, about 110,000 concealed weapons permits are currently valid, Merski said.

Merski would not comment on how long Neiswonger has had the permit. "That's confidential information,'' Merski said.
I do not think this fellow should be called moron. The Moron is the freakin reporter who wrote this article. 1. He gave this fellow's FULL ADDRESS just short of the ZIP CODE... Devulged information that the Sheriff did not want to give...
If I was this guy - I would sue the Reporter, the Newspaper for violation of privacy, and also the county for unjust laws, and lastly the school board on this BS they call ZERO TOLLERANCE policy. And when I went to the school to serve the papers I would wear a GIANT BELT BUCKLE with a gun engraved on it.
My point being - this person did NOTHING WRONG. His so called crime is not a crime - rather a conflict of opinion over Personal Liberty! Screw the School! He is Liscened and Legal... He was acting Peacfully... coming to talk to the school about his Son "WHATS WRONG WITH THAT"?

You know - the School probably didnt really care this guy had a pistol under his arm... what they REALLY hated was a CONCERNED PARENT!
