Other than derringers and the NAA Mini's,,,

I want to buy myself a range toy,,,
Recent posts about the NAA mini's have sparked an interest,,,
I'm thinking about buying myself a really small .22 handgun of some type.

What are the smallest .22 handguns available,,,
I know about the:
NAA Mini's,,,
Beretta Something-Cat,,,
Taurus Model 22's,,,
And the Taurus PLY (has anyone seen one of these yet?)

I googled and found www.mouseguns.com,,,
But they didn't have much info on .22's.

What else is out there that is .22 LR and small?

All I can tell you is, my Bobcat 22lr is an awesome gun. The more I shoot it (1000+), the better it shoot's. What I mean by that is, it used jam and stove pipe just about every mag, but now, it hardly every jams or stove pipes.

In fact, the last range session, it never skipped a beat of about ten mags I put through it using CCI Stingers.

Wildcat

The .22 Beretta is a Wildcat
the bigger .25 is the Bobcat
and the .32 is the Tomcat

Love my .22 and it never jammed or stovepiped.
Hmmmm...

I've had real good luck with my 21A and NAA in .22 mag. Really just your call on which you prefer. The NAA would let you trade out grips for carry/plinking if that is a plus for you.

The NAA in .22Mag with shot shells in it works well on snakes. Good bit of power in a tiny package if you go the mag route.

There are older derringers out there in .22 but not a whole lot smaller than the things you've already mentioned. Plus, Beretta and NAA will support their stuff much better.

Not a .22, but the Browning Baby is a blast to shoot when you are in a mousy mood. Extremely well made, quite accurate (!), and 100% reliable (at least mine is).

Of course, with it comes the price of .25 ACP ammo :barf:

Walther P22. A scaled down version of the P99, or PK380. Loys of fun for range use, and CCW practice.

Hello cheapshooter,,,

I've fired a P-22 before,,,
Nice little gun. :)

Fact is, for a graduation gift I bought an Airsoft version,,,
Exact same size and shape as the real thing,,,
I even made a custom holster to fit it,,,
She eventually bought the real gun.

I want something really tiny though,,,
I was just wondering if there was anything else on the market.

I would hate to buy a gun,,,
Then find out about another model I liked better.

Small but still bigger than the NAA's. You are describing a Ruger Bearcat.

I have an older Super Bearcat and the only caveat to it is the non adjustable sights.

Hello Edward429451,,,

The Evil Pawn Shop Guy had a Bearcat in his showcase a month or so ago,,,
It was sitting next to a full size Single-Six and truly looked dwarfed,,,
It seems to be somewhere between a S&W J-frame and a K-frame.

It's really a pretty little thing isn't it,,,
If I had a child that could easily be their first handgun.

Still,,,
Not small enough,,,
I'm wanting something tiny.

I know you mentioned the NAA Minis but, have you seen the .22 short version? It's really tiny, half the size of the magnum. Cute as a speckled pup.

Hello microgunner,,,

Yes I have and you are correct about being cute,,,
That's the one that fits inside that belt buckle isn't it?.

I'll probably end up getting the .22 LR version of the mini,,,
Unless someone here comes up with something I don't know about.

Thanks for the suggestion though,,,
One of those and the buckle would be difficult to pass up.

Little guys

I like the Taurus PT-25 and PT-22. The .22lr suits me better and I trust its round for a last ditch grab and go gun.

The ultimate NAA Mini,,, Compliments of larryNTX,,,,,

Yesterday evening LarryNTX posted the Tactical NAA Mini he built,,,
This is the gun that got me started wanting something tiny.

To get the most out of your NAA Mini, you need to a bipod, red dot sight, and a Maglite.
I bow to his creative ingenuity.

PT 22

Mine has been great. I generally carry Stingers in it. It has never turned up its nose at anything I feed it. I usually shoot it whenever I go to the range. The only issue I have with it is the thickness of the grips. I like the tip up barrel so that I don't have to rack it to clear it or load it. I shot one in .25acp but don't believe in the ballistics of that round.

I'm not a fan of the .25 ACP either,,,

Back in the 60's my sister had a .25,,,
We would use those old thick glass Coke bottles as targets.

Any hit with a .22 shattered the bottle,,,
Often the .25 would knock it down but not break it.
