Other passions besides guns, like Corvettes?

I would imagine most of the members of TFL are passionate about firearms but was wondering what other passions we all share. I am a confirmed Corvette nut and my friend is a Porche nut. The two of us sound like me and Rikwriter do. Porche engines are like KImbers in that they do not last as long as the Vette engines. I wonder if they are using MIM parts :) I usually get 150,000 miles before I sell the car and the engine is still tight. My friend rebuild his Porche engine at 65,000 miles.

I did love my Honda Magna until a bad experience made me want to be under four wheels instead of two. After buying a new tire the local motorcycle shop mechanic left off a cotter pin the held on the brake torque rod.The nut, without the pin , was able to vibrate off after only 100 miles. I was very lucky that I slowed down from a high speed test run. When I applied the brakes the whole rear hub rotated and locked up causing the back end to skid on a turn. As the bike went down I some how managed to climb on top of it and did not get hurt. I don't believe Honda uses any MIM parts on critical suspension parts :)

My dodge coronet. Nice economy 440 under the hood. =D

I love old musclecars! Mopars, Pontiacs, Olds', chevies, even Fords.
I've had 'em all, and the last car I sold was a 'vette.
I just got a pic of my newest endeavor posted on my homepage. Click the "About" button on the left, then the "More/Funstuff" button on the right under the racecar. http://www.osonet.com/Saunders-Art

LadydeeJ, the last Mopar I had was a '68 Charger but I ROLLED it!
Even though there are other cars besides Mopars, they are IMHO, the best of the rest! ;)

I'll state the obvious; computers. when I built my current home system last year, it was pretty hot. now you can get similar models in a Crackerjack box. *sigh*.

I have a decent little collection of knives, particularly folders (mostly Spyderco, plus a couple of Benchmade) that are lefty-friendly.

as can be seen in the "Blackhawk Down" and other threads, I have an interest in military technology and history.

and just to pull mine out and show it to you, I have a late model Camaro Z-28 (bone stock). haven't rolled it yet. ;)

Playing golf and my Austin Healey which is in need of restoration :)

What am I passionate about, other than shooting?

Archery (compound -- field, not target); photography; writing; reading; 4Wds, preferably worked over with a thumping great V8; motorbikes, cruisers, the bigger the better (but I'm not a Harley fan -- w-a-y too expensive here); calligraphy; fishin'; editing and correct grammar and vocabulary usage; poetry; cooking ---

All right, all right -- I'm weird, I admit it. ;)

Plymouth SUPERBIRD!
Shelby 427 SC Cobra!

I just watched that barrett-jackson car auction on speedvision....

A factory fresh Superbird went for $570,000!
A factory fresh original Cobra...$630,000!

I'll just have to keep dreaming about a little old lady giving me the junker in the barn.... :DSlime green Superbird with 14 miles on the odometer! :D

Also getting into building computers...

Guns (#?), Harleys (5), Corvettes (4). Owned em all. Currently a 1985 Wide Glide since new, a 4 speed kick/electric in a swing arm frame. :D :D Yes, Harleys did come that way without all the billet garbage.
I took delivery on a 2000 Corvette Hard Top 2 weeks ago. First new one. My first Vette was a 66 327 ragtop. I do miss that one! :) Closest thing you can get to a H-D on four wheels! I had a heart attack at 48. :o I`m not saving anythng for my old age! :D

Corvettes and Turbo Buicks. Over the years I have owned '67 Chevelle SS396(427 installed never told my friends), '69 Z28(best car I ever had), '70 LT1 Corvette, '89 5.0 Mustang, '87 Buick T-Type and '76 Corvette (slow). With two kids in college my hot rod activities have been curtailed. Once they are out my wife says she will buy a new 6spd.
Corvette for me.

It can happen Doc! You don't hear of it very often anymore since the price value on Mopar's has skyrocketed. A friend of ours, about 15 years ago, was lucky enough to find a 1970 Hemi Roadrunner parked in a little ladies garage. He gave $3000 for it. :D This thread has got me thinking. I need a "Muscle Car" forum! My husband would really get a kick out of that.

Later Guys. Thanks for the fun.

Snowboarding, water-skiing, martial arts, fishing, sleeping in, but most of all.... TRAVEL! I love seeing different towns, states, countries. To date, I've been to over 32 different countries.

Oh yeah, I like riding cycles too. I prefer the crotch rockets over Harleys though :)

I second the Mopars! Currently have a disassembled 354 Hemi in the basement sitting there with nothing to do :(. Originally it was going into a 74 Ramcharger but...
A friend has a Superbird and a 440 Pro Street Dart that are a blast.

Well... I like anything that goes FAST, and most things that go BOOM! That pic of the F18 popping the barrier qualifies... ;)

As for cars, I like my toys, but an M3 is probably my next toy, a Vette, or Viper would be fun, but probably out of the budget for now...

If my IPO dream materializes, maybe a 10 year old Ferrari would find it's way into the garage... I think the F40 is the best performance car ever built, but the Porsche 911GT1, and Mercedes CLK-GTR have certainly made a mark as well...
