Opinions on firing a rare or expensive gun?

Would you fire a rare or expensive historical firearm?

I shoot my p.08 Mauser every now and then. Mainly don't shoot it a lot because I'm usually shooting a new toy.

That must be fun!! I recently read that the metal quality in the Mauser P08's is better than that of the DWM's. Seems Mauser went to great lengths to ensure quality. May I ask what ammo you are using?

The last thing I want to do is blow up my DWM shooter with ammo which is too powerful. I have a P38 ac43 which I have shot with Luger 9 mm subsonic 150gr FMJRN and so far the P38 is fine. Our LGS said that this ammo shold be fine for both the P08 and the P38. Perhaps you can answer the following two questions:

1. Which gun is the more robust of the two: 1918 P08, or ac43 P38 (thin slide, not the postwar thicker version)

2. Which round would exert the highest pressure on the slide and action:
- Luger 9 mm subsonic 150gr FMJRN
- Luger 9 mm SV 115 gr FMJRN
- Luger 9 mm SV 124 gr FMJRN

Or do you think that all three of these are OK? I'm staying away from +P or any other "hot" loads... have no need of those at all.

Thanks alot
