One brand only?

With so many different gun makers turning out good quality guns, why do you chose only one?

For defense/competition shooting variety isn't a good thing but something to be avoided where possible. You're trying to develop muscle memory and retain it.

If guns are more of a hobby or you're more of a collector than yes, variety is more "interesting" and "fun".

If I had to choose, Smith & Wesson, hands down. From 5 shot snubbies to large bore semi autos, shotguns and rigfles, got all bases covered! Love me some S&Ws!

I have an assortment of guns that I have acquired used, but 90% of all the guns that I have bought new since 1960, have been Rugers. I could be perfectly have with Rugers only. They make everything I need in Firearms.

2- S&W, one auto, one revolver.
1- Ruger revolver
1- Colt semi
1- High Standard semi
1- Taurus semi
1- H&R revolver
3- Brownings, 2 O\Us, Auto 5
3- Remingtons, bolt, 2 pumps
1- LeFever SxS
1- Ithaca single shot

I'm not brand loyal, but prefer certain types of guns for certain things. Hmm, I just relized, I don't have or ever had a Winchester.
I do tend to like the older classics from Browning, Colt and S&W.

I have lots of brands of firearms. I'm MOST LOYAL to Glock, Springfield Armory, Savage & Bushmaster. And Ithaca shotguns. But I have offerings in lots of other makes.

I won't buy a Jennings, Davis, etc. I'll never own a Kahr either.

First sorry for the long post.

I have 5 handguns and 4 of them are Rugers. I honestly didn't set out for that, but when I first got into handguns I was on a budget (still am) and after doing a lot of research it always came back to Ruger. I didn't want to buy the cheapest gun made. I wanted something that would last but not break my budget.

First I wanted to learn the basics of shooting so I decided on a single action.22 lr. So I got a Ruger Single six.

Next I wanted an auto loader .22lr. So I got a ruger MK III 22/45.

Next I wanted to step up to a "big" gun, but wanted to keep it simple and safe till I got used to it. So I got a ruger blackhawk .357/9mm.

Next I wanted a good hand gun for home defense. I already had the 9mm SA and since the ammo is reasonable the ruger P95 seemed like the best value.

My last gun (and only non ruger) is a old H&R 949 .22lr. That one my father gave me. It was his first gun.

One last thing. My next purchase will be a snub nose revolver for cc. I want a 357 since I already have the Blackhawk. I posted here on what to get and I got the most sugestions for a Ruger SP101

I don't want to be a one gun guy, but I always seem to find my way to Ruger. Seems like the best values in guns.

Thanks for reading and how do you guys with more experince think I have done?

I guess all you really need now is a 1911 variant. Of course, what collection would be complete without a real "big" gun, a .44 Magnum. The next one that I would find impossible to be without is a ...:)
But, seriously, I think you have chosen wisely and you've made a good start on the road to addiction. Welcome to The Firing Line.

I'll just buy whatever catches my fancy. S&W, Colt, Ruger, CZ, Dan Wesson, Glock, Springfield, Bersa, Hi-Point, Kel-Tec, com-bloc surplus, and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Congratulations guys, it's good to know other people take their marriage vows seriously also. My 25th anniversary is coming up in December.
35 years for us last month. We drink a lot of iced tea here, but no kool-aid.:p

I was a die hard Colt 1911 fan......until the quality dropped so much that I constantly suffered malfunctions and always faced expensive gunsmith work just to get them to function as they were supposed to. I have tried many more brands, some of which gave me no confidence that I could depend on it in dire circumstances, others that did, but nothing like my love affair with my HKs that started with my USP .45 and USPc .45. I only own one other brand handgun now. not to say many others are not high quality or reliable, I just prefer the H&Ks now over anything else.

Dan Wesson, Colt, Springfield Armory, CZ, Ruger, Taurus, Charter Arms & Walther.
Each has their function, some are prettier than others, but they all work well for their intended purpose.
Variety is the "Spice of Life" Why would one restrict themselves to only one brand/country of origin? That's like saying there is no beer other than Budweiser or Bud light. If it works for you great, but... well, yuck.
