One brand only?

...whatever works and the wife can't find!
This alone is a good reason for one make of gun....."no dear, its the same one you saw the other day, I just cleaned it, thats why it looks a little different." :D

I'm heavy on Beretta (they are my favorite hands down) but to own from only 1 manufacturer makes no sense. Your basically saying no one else has ever made any good guns. Right now my modest collection of hand guns is 4 & 4, 4 Berettas to 4 of everything else. I have 1 more Beretta on my A list (ok, maybe 2 ;-) ) and then some other brands move to the top. Of course a good deal or a sale automatically trumps the top spot.

Why would you limit yourself to one manufacturer? There are so many wonderful guns out there, from excellent manufacturers; just seems a shame not to sample them. I own guns from four makers at the moment and all of them have something special to offer me.

What he said.

I've run into this same thing on guitar forums. People seem to need to identify with a single brand to eliminate the shades of gray and then tout their chosen brand as best. But life, and manufactured objects, are complex... so we take a risk... try something different... stretch a little and try a different brand, maybe get educated in the process.

I realize that layton was specifically asking for commentary from kool-aid drinkers and not asking for replies from people like me. I'm just sayin'....

I like a variety but if I was limited to only 1 brand, if it was firearms all around I would probably go with FNH. If it was pistols only, probably sig sauer.

For me it's Colt, Winchester, Springfield, Ruger, S&W, Marlin, CZ, Norinco, H&R, Browning, Remington, Rossi, Mosin Nagant, and even one Hi-Point 995 TS Carbine. So, as you can see, I have a plethora of gun maker's wares.

One of my cousin's best friends is a one brand guy. He has a Beretta 92FS, a Beretta PX4, a Beretta PX4 sub compact, and a Beretta CX4. He also has a Bobcat and a Tomcat. When he is hiking he carries a Stampede Marshal with a 3.5" barell.

According to him Beretta's quality is unquestionable because they have been around "longer than America has been a country."

I as with most long time shooters have experimented with different calibers, platforms, and brands. Yet, I always come back to the Smith and Wesson revolvers chambered in .357 Magnum. The Smith N frames produced from 1900 – 1980 were the finest production handguns ever manufactured, with the Colt Python a close second.

Same brand, caliber, holster, magazine... you own several of the same gun?
2 Glock 19's, a Glock 26 and a 17L longslide.

I carry G17 mags as spares so they fit in any gun I happen to be CCW'ing.

The only exception right now is a Kahr PM9 I use when I need really covert carry.

One brand only...

No. But I do prefer a couple of platforms and buy them exclusively. I like CZ's and 1911's for my semi's and Ruger GP100's for my wheelgun. That's not to say the others don't work or are crap. It's just that the ones I listed fit and work for ME.

Sticking to one brand of gun is like being married to one woman your whole life. How is that working out in America these days?

It's working well for my DW and I. We're going on 40 years on our next anniversary. :D

I've been married to the same woman 21 years myself, although I know many 'men' who trade wives as often as I used to trade guns

I'm not into gun games, only self-defense.

I find that having one brand/caliber simplifies things. Same holsters, magazines, ammo, firing mechanism and trigger action, etc.
I can understand and respect that sentiment.

I'm just about the opposite I love gun games and have many different brands, designs and SD is a fortunate by product of a sport I love.

I have multiple guns of a few major manufactures.

I recently bought a Ruger GP100, that put me at more Rugers than some of the other brands, but only by one more.

I have several different brands of handguns. Each was bought because I determined that this or that brand had the looks, ergonomic features, reliability and caliber that I was looking for.

Congratulations guys, it's good to know other people take their marriage vows seriously also. My 25th anniversary is coming up in December.
