I think culture plays a large role. In the US, "adult beverages" are just that we're not raised on them the way many Europeans are. And many, when they reach legal age (or before if they have access) drink to excess. Drinking to get drunk is very common in the US, less so in Europe.

This isn't meant to say Americans are drunkards and Europeans aren't, clearly that not true. What I mean is that European society has a long tradition of drinking in social settings, that the US does not have in the same way.

Just one of the MANY ways our societies are different.
 
the old school way was....ya shot then ya drank and went home.
its still done in many places i frequent.
heck, i still shoot indoor shootzen leagues in new england. ya shoot, ya drink...and go home. or in some cases....eat with others off a banquet table buffet.
 
olympic shooting was never in the spotlight. even more so when they become good at what they do. its how communism and socialism works. oppression is routine.
 
(so now....all of us are all stupid kids and treated as such. )

yep and there in lies the problem with the us society in general, "one bad apple... gets all the attention... but you can't greese the bastard making the rules" or something like that.


maybe i ran a couple of sayings togather, but you get the point.
