Ok, who's buying the 50th anniversary flattop?

I see ruger is introducing a whole bunch of new models.
Among them, a 50th anniversary blackhawk "flat top" in .357 magnum with the pre-'62 XR-3 gripframe.
It's lighter than the ones that are being made now, and many stories are traded in forums like this of how nice the old ones really were.
They are making a lot of changes at ruger, and making a lot of new guns that I find desireable.
Like the alaskan, the new model vaquero, the 50th anniversary blackhawk, the 345, the markIII, etc.

ME, ME, ME, ME!!!!

I'm REALLY excited about this gun. I've already written the factory about continuing the small frame Blackhawk as a catalog item after the Anniversary model is gone. If they would do that and make it in .44 Special as well, they will sell several to me! I've wanted to buy an old small frame and spend the $800 getting it converted to .44 Special for some time. It sure would be easier and cheaper to just buy it that way from the factory! But I will still buy one of the .357 Anniversary models while I wait.

The .44 Special idea came from this review:

http://gunblast.com/Clements.htm

And I didn't think I needed another Vaquero until I read the review and looked at the photos on gunblast.com. Same small frame. I may have to get one of those too!

I like the Alaskan as well. And the Scout version of the M77. So short and light it would make a neat deer rifle in .308. That Single Six Hunter with two cylinders in 17M2 and 17 HMR is very neat. And I even like the new 22/45.

I already have half a dozen (or so) Rugers and I thought I was all done. But the new stuff has got me looking at them again. And I still need a 5.5" Redhawk in .41 Mag!

I definitely want one! I'm a Ruger fan anyhow, but I thought I had all I needed. I really like the 50th ann. Blackhawk. I hope they continue to offer this , not just as an anniversary piece. I also would love to see this chambered in .44 Special, or possibly .45 Colt. The Alaskan model is also interesting.

Gee, Ruger has new stuff eh?

Hmmm, I think I'll be buying the same number of guns that I normally buy in a year from the company that urges Congress to pass gun bans, and never so much as apologizes for same. (guess how many!)

It's amazing. Any and every thread about Rugers pulls one of you guys out from under a rock. He's dead; get over it! I fail to see how gun owners would be better off if a huge American (public) company like Ruger either went broke or got out of making guns entirely.

There is no reason to badmouth them every time somebody says they are making something interesting.

Gregg

Yes there most certainly is, and that's why it is done. You are mistaken. I don't know who "he" is, but I do know that the company is not dead, and it's the COMPANY that took the actions in question. What's amazing is that anyone could rationalize buying from them. It is YOU who needs to "get over it" or at least "get used to it", cuz it ain't gonna stop.

If it comes in a 4 5/8" barrel (or 4+") I'd like to add one to my accumulation of handguns (can't really call it a collection). A .45LC would also be enticing. .44spl does hold some interest for me.

Thread back on track?

Thanks.
According to the ruger press release, it will be available first in .357 with a 4 5/8" barrel.
I wouldn't mind one at all, considering the cost of buying an old flat-top, and converting it to .44 special or something like that.
A .41 mag blackhawk was my first, so I wouldn't mind seeing what an updated small frame .357 blackhawk shoots like.

I would love to buy another especially a resurection gun from Ruger.
However I agree with FF. The company , not just the man, has turned it's back on it's customers too many times.
He's dead; get over it!
But not his attitude towards not selling hi-caps rifle mags to mere civilians
would be better off if a huge American (public) company like Ruger either went broke or got out of making guns entirely.
No it would be better if they got their head out of their malodorous nether regions and quit selling the American gunowner out.

As far as ruining you thread.
If this was meant to be a Ruger pet fest you should have entitled it as such.

To answer your question
No I, and I assume FF, will not be buying a product from a company that does not recognize my inherent right to own that product. Cause that would make both me and the company hypocrits

Well Caz223, I Ordered Mine Last September When I First Heard About The Re-issuance

Of the BLACKHAWK FLATTOP 357MAG.

As for all of you other whiners, you are a rude bunch of pissants who should have had the common courtesy to take your combined bellyaching to a different place. This thread was started to find out how the new SA sixgun is being received and that has nothing to do with you or your whining, nor do anyone of us here ever give a damn whether you ever buy a gun from any gun company, RUGER included. To be even blunter, nobody here cares a hoot in hell what rude nincomepoops like you think about anything. Now go away and do your whining elsewhere as you are boring the rest of to no end.

And that question was answered
nor do anyone of us here ever give a damn whether you ever buy a gun from any gun company, RUGER included.
Then why was the question asked
To be even blunter, nobody here cares a hoot in hell what rude nincomepoops like you think about anything.
Apparently you also don't give a hoot as to the rules regarding posting in this forum or to mature adult conversation without resorting to personal attacks
Now go away and do your whining elsewhere as you are boring the rest of to no end.
Maybe you should go away and study the rules that you agreed to when you joined the forum

These forums are about a free exchange of opinions and ideas ,both political and mechanical, regarding firearms.

Gordo,
Smaller frame & gripframe, thinner black polymer grips, new cylinder indexing system that aligns a chamber with the gate, re-designed hammer, 30% lighter Wolff mainspring, crescent head ejector rod, Colt-style cylinder pin that's easier to get in & out and shorter to allow another quarter-inch of ejector rod in punching out empties.
Please don't ask about .44 Specials, I'm tired of saying no. :)
Denis

Well! I want a 44-40! I actually could see this as THE perfect platform to produce dual cylinder 38-40/40 S&W revolvers. Ruger really needs to make a 10MM Bisley Hunter model.

Ruger is trying to keep the total number of SKUs down. They used to try to accommodate as many variation requests as they could, they're not going to do that now. They'll concentrate on a core line in calibers that move in sufficient numbers to make it worthwhile to Ruger.
Aside from maybe Davidson's contracting for a run, you won't see a 10mm Bisley Hunter, or a 10mm anything from Ruger. The sales numbers just aren't there.
Denis

I'll be buying a few of them as I'm very pleased with the changes and look forward to other calibers in the future.

As to the folks who continue to whine, I'm wondering why they are even here since there aren't any manufacturers that they can buy firearms from.

As to the folks who continue to whine
Since when is taking a stand based on personal integrity and beliefs whining.
Whining is more like complaining about someone else's opinions and griping that they don't agree with your's
I'm wondering why they are even here since there aren't any manufacturers that they can buy firearms from.
Since when is Ruger the only game in town

No, YOU should have the common courtesy to take ruger praising to a forum called the "We Like Guns But Want To Actively Participate in Obliterating Gun Rights By Buying From the Principal Gun Company Architect of Gun Bans" Forum, not this one, where many people actually support the RKBA.

This thread was started to find out how the new SA sixgun is being received and that has nothing to do with you or your whining,

Wrong. It most certainly does. Anything pro Ruger is always going to be met with the other side presented. Always. So get used to it or hit the road. I'm entitled to my .02 just like anyone else, and so are all the other Ruger boycotters.

nor do anyone of us here ever give a damn whether you ever buy a gun from any gun company, RUGER included.

Who's "us", because it appears you're in the minority. And I'm in fact "here" and I do care, as does Joab. So you're wrong on that count as well.

To be even blunter, nobody here cares a hoot in hell what rude nincomepoops like you think about anything.

I wasn't rude at all. I just pointed out a political fact. And you're mistaken. Many do care, including notably joab and many others - do you purport to speak for ALL lurkers? If anything, the only rudeness occuring is people like you money into the pockets of a company that urges Congress to pass gun bans, which in turn infringes MY right to own a firearm - that's extraordinarily rude, if you ask me.

Now go away and do your whining elsewhere as you are boring the rest of to no end.

Wishful thinking. Bottom line: There is NO SEPARATING the two (the guns and the politics) - they're inescapably tied, and no discussion of Ruger's (admittedly fine) products is EVER complete without mention of their politics,, at least in passing (lest some wayward newb be led to believe they're an OK company to buy from, and lest hardened sellouts like yourself forget that you're a hardened sellout). And you don't sound bored - you sound quite excited - this is a good thing. Any other questions or incorrect statements you want me to correct?

I'll note right here that the name-calling you just engaged in (pissants and nincompoops) is against forum policy as an ad hominem attack, and also does not further your "argument", if that's what you want to call your rant. In contrast, I've broken no forum policies. Have a nice thread. :)

Your thread is only being "ruined", or interfered with, to the extent that others have hurt it by trying to defend Ruger's politics, when what they should have done is discussed the guns, and ignored my initial post, if they didn't want it to be discussed further. But they chose to discuss it further. So they're gonna get smacked down when they speak deceptions, untruths, and defenses of Ruger's politics. I'd have been perfectly happy with only the initial post had your ruger-loving "friends" (Wil Terry, tulsamal, and 461) not perpetuated the discussion. But they CHOSE to keep discussing it instead. So they should keep that in mind for the next time, and maybe they'll save themselves being exposed to such a great extent on their sellout status.
