Oh crap got my case stuck in my die

The major company's that load match grade loads have their own recipe in there rounds , you will never know what powder or grains . They may list barrel length an twist rate , All the OAL is standard length for that round . Just work your way up there , don't start at the top of the scale. Accuracy loads are mostly midrange on the load scale for 100 yard shooting . Long range is different , what are you loading for ? Longrange target shooting , hunting , what distances .

Target shooting and hunting at medium to very long range. Right now the max range I can shoot is 300 yards. I just joined a club tho that goes to 1000 yds. I'd like to graduate to that once I'm more experienced. The 300 scenars with 85 grains retumbo shot great @ 100 yds. I made 15 more of each with 86 grains, 87 grains, and 88 grains. Again lymans book said max 88 grains, hodgkins website says max 94. Kind of odd.

None of the books are the same , I have four load books , I list the lowest of the books an the highest of the books , then start at the midrange of the books an work up. 338 is hard core , what rifle are you shooting . How long have you been shooting ?

cw,

Thank you for the response. I have 2 rifles I will be reloading for. a .308 m1a scout, and a .338 savage 110ba stealth. I will take your advice and list the lowest of the books and the highest of the books.

I've been shooting for 2 years.

You started out in the big leagues. I have a CZ452 Varmint in 22lr. & a Rem 700 308 cal. Completely blueprinted with a match barrel . just love shooting it . ranges in my area are max. 200 yards . that's what I shoot my zero , to shoot long range I would have to travel at least 5 hours. Look into temperature indicating label they have 7 set points 86 - 140 degrees , they attach to the barrel , let's you know when the barrel is to hot . People will say not to let your barrel get to hot . I would ask how do you know. I looked it up on line on Accurate Shooter they have an article on them , check it out . Off the top of my head you can get them from McMASTER - CARR they will protect your barrel from overheating. Get some good shooting in with that bad boy 338 of yours . Chris

haha Thanks cw. Yeah I'm no marksman by any means, I mainly zero in my scope at 100 and then just have fun from there. I'm still working on the basics and am getting better trip by trip. I definitely noticed the accuracy on the hand loads I did was a huge improvement. They opened up at 200 and 300 yds because I am not an amazing shot, but the 100 set was spot on!

You have two great rifles , the tanker was the short version of the M14 I first used in VN ours had a selector switch to auto then changed to 16 's 14 never jammed great weapon but your 110 is Bad Ass. Until the next time , Be Well & keep them clean , Chris
