Off-Beat revolvers

That Dardick is about as ugly as Fugly gets

Also, I think that Reichs revolver is one of the few revolvers that incorporates a safety. I know there are a few others, but pretty rare company.

@ Lifesizepotato (or anyone who can help)

That is a great looking collection!!

Any chance you could go through those photos and name the models shown for those of us who don't know them?

I'd love to know what they are and I only recognise the Chiappa Rhino pair at 12 o'clock.

IIRC there are three movies where Sean Connery carries and fires a W-F . One was a western and the others were futeristic.

2 in Rhino

I have one of these. As reported above, almost no muzzle flip with mid-level .357 loads. It is heavy, but also balances OK in my hands. Have not had reliability issues through about 700 rounds.

I'll make a request now, that no one post the photo of Sean Connery in Zardoz (you know the one, and if you don't, you don't wanna know)

Lifesizepotato,
I'm glad you include the el cheapo Pocket Pal in your collection of nifty revolvers, because it really is quite a clever little design, isn't it? It's a shame a better company never saw fit to make a nicer version. What is that Manurhin? I've never seen one of those before, that's for sure.

I've got a few oddball revolvers of my own; a S&W TRR8, an enormous Belgian knock-off of a S&W Model 3 in 44 Russian, and a Mle 1873 service revolver (last one's not that odd, but still uncommon). Hopefully I'll get a Rhino in the mix at some point, if I ever find a decent price on a 2 or 5 inch white-anodized model...

Sure! I edited the post and added short descriptions. Scroll on up to see. :)

More 1879 Reichsrevolver info.

A couple years ago there was a classic gun test done by Guns & Ammo on their cable television channel. Garry James fired one and discussed the finer points of the revolver. For awhile it could be viewed on the G&A website. Possibly it's on U tube.

I'm surprised at you guys! Who can forget The Maltese Falcon, with Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor,Sidney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, Elisha Cook, Jr., Ward Bond, Barton McClane, etc.?

Right.
That is it.
The final straw.

This thread and those pics have confirmed in the most concrete terms that I just luuuuuurve revolvers.
Semis are nice and cool, interesting to look at and shoot, but revolvers always grab my attention on a whole new level.

That Manuhrin and Korth are both delicious and Matebas are just plain cool-candy no matter how quirky some are!! I mean that Unica .44Mag: OMG!!!!
I'd give (or at least loan) one or two internal organs to hold one:eek:

Most of my revolvers are plain, everyday Smith & Wessons, Rugers or Colts. This is my only exotic, a lightweight ZAMAK framed, seven shot chambered in .32 S&W Long.

Believe it or not, it's actually not a bad shooter within 15 yards.

Yes, the Reichsrevolver did have a safety lever on the left side. A rather unusual feature for a revolver. It also did not have any method of extraction - it was issued with a brass rod to push out the fired cases from the front of the cylinder! It was heavy, unweildy, poorly balanced, with a trigger pull heavier than the guy shooting it and I really miss it! ;) Here's a pic of me firing it - a .44 Russian case loaded with blackpowder comes pretty close to the original 10.6mm load.

I'm pretty sure Sean Connery wasn't in The Maltese Falcon.;)

As I recall, the Webley-Fosbury was not really 'featured' in the "Maltese Falcon", but merely mentioned.

I will stand by to be corrected.

No, but the Webley-Fosbery sure was.:D

Sam Spade's partner, Miles Archer was killed with it. I believe he was shown handling it briefly

Here's a quote from Wikipedia (whose motto is "It might be right."):

Use in Film

In the film "The Maltese Falcon", Warner Bros., 1941, Sam Spade's partner, Miles Archer, is shot and killed with a Webley-Fosbery Automatic Revolver. The revolver is shown in the film being fired when Archer is shot. Soon after, the unique cylinder is clearly visible when an investigating detective shows the revolver to Sam Spade. Sam Spade then identifies the gun as a "Webley-Fosbery".

Point 1: Yes, the Webley Fosbury is used in The Maltese Falcon.

Point 2: The question at hand is:

IIRC there are three movies where Sean Connery carries and fires a W-F . One was a western and the others were futeristic.

The only western I can think of with Sean Connery was Shalako. My guess for the third would be League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
