Of Glocks and elite forces...

I love my Glocks, 1911s, and Hi Power, all for different reasons. I love other guns too... I just don't own them :(

Glocks:

€ They are only ALMOST ugly. Or maybe I've just been fondling them so long they've started to look less ugly. Who cares? I'll stare at my custom 1911 for aesthetic pleasure.

€ There are other guns more comfortable in my hand than the Glock, like the Sig and the BHP, or the new Steyr. This hasn't seemed to affect the Glock's usefulness in my hands.

€ When they break-- and they do, but far less often than some other brands-- you can get Glock parts or find an armorer to fix it if you can't, in almost any town. Try that with your Sig or HK (I recommended keeping a spare handy).

€ Like Tamara said, if I lose, trash, or get the Glock confiscated, it won't break the bank, and I can replace it pronto.

€ It's combat accurate. No, it won't shoot one-hole groups at 25 yds, but WHO CARES!

€ I can wash it in the dishwasher. ;)

If I weren't a lefty, I'd own a Sig. I'd like an HK P7 for grins. Same goes for a Beretta Elite II, a Desert Eagle, a CZ, a Steyr, a Seecamp, etc etc. For now, it's the Glock for hard use and the 1911 for just lust. Like having a Land Cruiser and a Porsche... the best of all worlds.

Gonzo,

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Never read anyone saying anything different. But the way in which you put forth your opinion leaves much to be desired, IMO.

The attitude emitted by the initial post on this thread (as I read it) was along the lines of "I'm right, you're wrong, deal with it", and that's not going to win many (if any) converts to your position. Style counts around here, and I, for one, don't think you did very well this go 'round.

You don't care for Glocks. That's cool. But it isn't cool to deride as basically ignorant or misinformed those of us who do like Gaston's combat tupperware. And if you don't think that's what you did, I encourage you to go back and read the first post again.

Gonzo I agree with you, Hondas suck and belong in every soccer mom's garage. AHHHH I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!!!! :D

But, Glock and Tanfoglio are the only manufacturers that rule. They actually still make cookie cutter junk 10mm pistols.

All the Deltaswatseals use it!

I have it on authority of a guard at work who says he's an ex-SEAL (from some war, I think) that all the High-Speed Low-Drag Tactical Elite CQB guys use Lorcins. They just keep it quiet so the supply doesn't dry up.

If you don't enjoy getting flamed, don't insult peoples choices in Firearms...If you notice, most of the people who responded to this thread and are Glock lovers still don't bad mouth HK's or Sigs.
They give respect where it is due. Just because you don't like them (Glocks), doesn't mean they are "Cookie Cutters"

Maybe you are still mad that you payed too much for your weapons?:D

TRIBAL COUNCIL

Can I say that I hated MY Glock?

I know it no longer matters 'cause I sold it off (to a baker, I think) but I want you all to confirm my choice so I feel good about defending it (let me ask my psychologist; I think he posts here).

I gotta go get a toothpick; got some cookie junk in my teeth.

That's okay, WESHOOT2,

I have to confess that I don't particularly like High Powers or CZ-75's.

I mean, objectively I know they're great firearms. Nay, legendary firearms.

But when I pick one up, they just leave me cold; there's just no chemistry between us. I just can't get worked up about them, which is probably unfortunate, because they shoot really well for me.

Que sera, sera...

DITTO HP, BUT I LOVE CZ

EAA Witness clones actually.

But I shoot my 1911 better, faster, more accurately.

Gonna go to the shop (24F right now) and touch some Redhawks.

Bye.

Some of you aren't reading my entire first post. I stated that I consider Glocks junk. After that you went on your tirades.

I also related that my initial thread was about quality control at a certain high end production custom firearm maker.

In that thread I recieved 3 maybe 4 relevant replies and a claim that my money would be better spent on 6 Glocks. I responded with my opinion on Glocks. SUDDENLY!!!!!! (insert menacing crescendo here) I'm an elitist snob because I don't like Glocks!

Now, I've been sent a PM by someone I respect and that I don't feel has an agenda, that I was insensitive when I voiced my opinion about Glocks and that alot of people scrimped and saved to be able to purchase a Glock and that there may be an emotional attachment to a gun they worked so hard to get.

I can't argue with that. Hell, who's to say that I haven't scrimped and saved FOUR TO SIX TIMES AS LONG!!!!! To purchase that ultra expensive custom 1911 only to have somebody come from nowhere and throw out their opinion telling me I'm wasting my money?

I didn't ask for this opinion on what my money would be better spent on! I didn't ask to be called an elitist because I busted my ass to get to a point where I can afford nicer things!

Basically, THIS thread is to say I'm just flat out tired of hearing irrelevant blathering from everyone but it comes most often and most vehemently from the Glockheads! I've never really disrespected any maker or model but I'm damn sick and tired of having Glock shoved down my throat!!! Shut up about Glock already!

That said, go ahead and tell me that we elitist snobs should expect to have the great unwashed throw their opinions in our face but that we, the upper classes should rise above our emotions and not fight back.

Consumerism 101

All should be aware that there two types of people in the consumerism business. We all know the first type that overspends, no matter what it is, cars, guns, golf clubs, they start a new hobby and buy the best there is the first day. These spenders tend to be pompous and annoying and sometimes rich. They feel better about themselves when they buy the best justified or not. They generally brag about paying twice as much for something as the other guy and theirs is always better. Oh well its not our problem. Likewise there are the frugal guys who brag at spending half as much as the next guy. When talking to him no matter what you spend, he says you paid to much. He drives a vw beetle and condemns the people that buy new cars as morons. His favorite pistol is his russian makarov that he got on special for 110$ and he thinks he can outshoot you with it. He's a regular at the flea market and swap meet and hasn't stepped into a Mall since 1967. I think these guys re pompous annoying and sometimes rich too. In any case most of us fall in between these extremes and thankfully so. But as for the reality of it It Doesn't matter It shouldn't be our problem, lets share the knowledge we have and respect other people opinions.

(no offense intended for makarov and vw owners as well as those that disdain malls and frequent the afore mentioned flea markets. but if they all apply to you ....oops)

But stop passing opinions off as fact!
1911's ->>> 90 years of use cant be bad.
Glocks ->>> 60% OF US LEO's and cant be bad either. (not to mention all the deltaswatseals)
We all have free will, lets exercise it!

We've slung enough mud and I for one would like to see this thread closed.

Gonzo,

How about a little detente? Start a new thread and try to ignore those trying to push your buttons. But do try to avoid words that are going to cause a reaction like this. There's a fine line between a friendly jab to someone's sides and a slap in the face.

That way you can get back to your original question about those yuppie frou-frou guns.;)

to each their own

Thats why this is the Best country in the free World. We're entitled to express ourselves right or wrong. Some of us agree and disagree with Gonzo.I've been shooting for a little over 25 years.I've shot a little of everything, alot of ARMY experience.Don't buy the GLOCKs, leave them for me!It's in the name! SAFE-SHOOTING!
