Of Glocks and elite forces...

Here in Wa. St. we are allowed to shoot forest grouse (ruffed, blue and spruce) with rifles and pistols during big-game season. We use them for camp meat. I've shot a number of them with my G29. Odd thing is, the last one I shot must have been part parrot, 'Cause I could swear I heard him say: "Hey! That's not a Sig or an HK. That looks like one of those cookie cu....BANG..Flump.:D

I didn't like Glocks either, till I owned one. Two things sold me. All the talk about reliability and the new grips that came out a few years ago. Fits my hand better than any other pistol.

No quality pistol is junk. Sure there are some lemons. Shoot what you like and specialize for certain situations (sometimes you gotta carry small - like a KelTec P32) but if I had to own just one gun it would be a Glock 19.

This thread is going nowhere in a hurry...

The original post is Glock-bashing at its best. Why argue about it? Nobody's gonna change his mind.

Gonzo,

Spend your money however you want, and have fun doing it.

Everyone has to find what works for them.

Glocks work well for me. I would not mind a 1911 (in 10mm, of course), but I would prefer a long-slide 10mm, single-stack Glock, with the lighter 17L/24 type trigger. And if you don't believe this would most definitely be the best sidearm ever produced or even imagined in the history of the world- you're just wrong. Except maybe that Glock 21 that was modified to shoot the .454 Casull, if it were scalloped to provide a grip for tiny widdle hands...

:D

It's called personal choice, and it's one of the beautiful things about being human. Do what works for you; if you know what works well for you, you'll have no need to get approval from the peer group for validation.

In my experience: Vehement proclomations that one's individual choices are better than others' is often an indicator of one's own insecurity about said choices.

2 reasons why I dont own a Glock....

1). Plenty of good quality weapons out there for less then the price of a Glock.

2). If Im gonna drop more than $500 dollars on a pistol its gonna be a Sig or a 1911.

Im sure one of these days a Glock is gonna make my collection. But for now I like to shop around for quality at a nice price. Besides, my military income cant handle me dropping over $500 in one shot. Maybe after I retire and get a good paying job then I'll grab a Glock or two.

My priority list:
1. Taurus PT-145
2. CZ 75B Military
3. EEA Witness 10MM
4. Sig P245
5. Kimber .45
6. Glock G36

Anything in my gunsafe after I die will become an heirloom. That's how that works. What I paid for it before that makes no difference. Simple as that.

blades67,

Heh. Funny you should mention that.

The other day our gunsmith coined a new word for the ol' beaters that folks drag in and want fixed because "they belonged to grandpaw".

He said: "Some folks bring in heirlooms, and some folks just bring in heirlumps". ;) :D

Hay Gonzo,

I'm one of those guys who probably has more experience than you. I've not only been to a couple training schools, I've taught a couple of them. I carried 1911s for 26 years and many of them were custom guns (several built by Jim Hoag in Calif).

My advice to you is - DON'T BUY A GLOCK! Just think what a fool you would look like if it turned out you actually like combat tupperware.

DaveT:

I don't think Gonzo has to buy a Glock to make himself look like a fool - he's doing a pretty good job without one.

Could someone please tell me when I said I've never shot or owned a Glock?

Could someone please tell me when I said I needed an expensive gun to make me feel good?

Could someone please tell me when I said that what I was writing here was anything other than my opinion?

Could someone please tell me why NOONE in over 30 replies responded to my statement about the Glock mantra "you should buy a... " " you'd be better served by a.... "

Would anyone here like to honestly tell me I would be better served buying a gun I don't like, am not comfortable with and shot to a level beneath my ability?

More to the point of this thread.

Can someone tell me what a thread about Wilson Combat quality control has to do with purchasing 6 Glocks?

I await answers to that last question with great anticipation

I STILL don't like Honda's. Everybody knows we elitist snobs drive BMW's!

I will tell you why I consider them cookie cutter junk. They FEEL like junk in MY hand! I think the trigger is Junk! I think there are/were problems getting mags to drop free.

Those are enough reason to me!

You can tell me about your experiences with other pistols, even my favorite pistol but that has nothing to with my opnion.

They feel great in my hand in fact they feel better than a 1911. The only gun that feels better is a Walther P99 but I don't like that design anymore due to reliability problems and issues with excessive muzzle flip. If your feel there junk thats fine. I will point out that the vast majority of LEO's and Non Leo handgun buyers would disagree with you. I would buy a glock over any other design even if they cost twice as much as they do. ALso you could not get me to pay the money they want for custom 1911 jamamatics.

Here we go...

Objectively, Glocks aren't automatically junk.

Objectively, a custom 1911 isn't automatically a jamomatic, either. Well, not unless you were a fool that sent your gun off to Bruno the Septic Tank Cleaner-Cum-Pistolsmith instead of someone reputable.

I like Glocks, but for what it's worth my Glock is broken and my BCP-massaged Delta Elite seems to feed & extract everything but small pebbles. Because the AFTEC extractor can't reach the little ones, dontcha know. :D

Jeez, is there something in the radiation given off by monitors that makes people make sweeping generalizations not supported by any evidence?

CastleBravo,
Maybe afew of those sweeping generalizers can get a shot at being your Batallion S-2! ;)
Sometimes the statements are almost as smart, not.

I'm really beginning to think we all have way too much time on our hands! I think I'll go take care of some of those "honey-dos" that my wife has been nagging me about.

I love my Glocks. Everything about them. Ive shot H&K's, Sigs, Berettas, Taurus', Rugers and I always prefer my Glock.

I would never bash a gun and call it junk, especially with all the info backing them up.

Pick the gun you like and be happy.

Oh yeah, I drive a 92 Toyota Tercel with 103k miles on it. I trust it more then my wifes 99 Cavalier. :D

My mommy will beat your daddy up.
