NRA Stickers - Theft Deterrent or Theft Invitation?

I don't put stickers on my vehicle that can draw unwanted attention to it. It's very expensive and very time consuming to repair and replace automobiles. I don't need any more hassles in life especially for something that could have been easily avoided in the first place.

A few years ago the Department of Defense wisely stopped requiring that we have those little ridiculous blue and silver DoD access stickers stuck to the windshields of our vehicles. We now have a separate parking pass that we show for access along with our CACs.

It's not difficult to understand that there are a lot of nutty opportunists out there.

Its your sticker and your car, so ask yourself what tangible benefit putting it on your car will bring you.

I see few pros and several cons.

The NRA needs your wallet's support, not your bumper's.

It's not paranoia, it's conflict prevention.

Gun stickers are inflammatory to some people.

Some people feel strongly about guns.

Some people will resort to conflict and vandalism over them.

It's just life experience.

Some people think gun ownership makes them the cool kid in the block, so they put stickers.

Did I say some people hate guns. Some people honestly feel that their loved one would still be alive in a world without guns and none of your logic can change how the feel. I, at the very least respect that some people have lost loved ones to gun violence, and I respect their feelings.

I have a NRA Sticker , Christian Cross , Confederate Battle Flag . Iv noticed a few fast movers that waited to late to leave the house run up on my bumper in the morning race to work will back off . I did get pulled over by a County Officer one time for a tail light and he did some kind of tactical stalk to my car thumbing the snap on his holster as he Groucho walked to my car . He asked you got any guns in your car ? .

People like to steal all sorts of things, Jewelry firearms etc. I think advertising you could have either in your home or car is not a good idea. There are groups here that would kill to get your firearms so it would definitely be stupid in this part of the UK. I am sure there are people that steal firearms in America as well.

Northern Ireland. A man was shot through the heart as he tried to defend his family from two men who had forced their way into his home to steal guns, a court has heard.
Financial advisor Geoff Kerr was shot dead in Templepatrick on 27 April 2009

Never thought about it but if firearms are banned they become something that the BG,s will kill for . Another good argument why legal firearm ownership shall not be infringed is the right choice .

Besides the NRA sticker Im working on a .300 Win Mag shell case to go on my antina like the smiley faces people use to use . The smiley face were to help find your car in a parking lot . But when they got popular and every other car had one it didnt help .

Of course, people will kill you for the 20$ in your wallet...

Now they know you have $1000 dollars hanging on your belt, more possibly in your house.

Worse if you have gun stuff on social media.

Your ammo can be traded for a lot of goods.

Big risk just to show your gun pride

The average criminal stealing to pay for dope and beer will steer clear of someone they think may fight back . Criminals like varmits prey on the sheep .
Iv always been the first to get in the bully,s face . It does'nt take long for the bad guy to see what I bring .
The bumper sticker stays .

There's a market for stolen guns, huge market as a fact.

They come from somewhere.

Professional criminals will target homes with a guaranteed product.

If looking for arms, it's easy to spot homes with such items.

Most people can't resist telling others about their possessions.... Then you brag about vacations. Or the crooks watch the house that has firearms stickers on the vehicle.

Yes, you may be ok with petty criminals, but professionals look for signs to help them choose a target.
The stolen gun market is very lucrative.

I don't put anything on my vehicles any more, not so much because of theft, but because when it comes to politics these days, the ones who preach "tolerance" the most, will not tolerate dissenting opinions, and many will vandalize your vehicle if they do not agree with your sticker.

Really? If that's the case, don't ever wear camo or blaze orange in public or the crooks will know you're a hunter and have guns in your vehicle and more at home. Don't buy ammo at Walmart, cause the pros will follow you home knowing your feeding those firearms in your safe and gut you when you get outta the car. Same goes for even walking outta your LGS. Sure sign to those looking to rob known firearm owners. Don't have a DU, RMEF or a NWTF sticker/T-Shirt/hat or you're just asking for it. Don't live in a home that's anything but a run down trailer, otherwise you are just advertising you have something of value inside. Better yet.....never leave the house. Just stay at home and tell folks about the dangers of gun ownership on social media forums. Sheesh......

Odds are a sticker on your car/truck would be a wash. For every would be robber it attracts, it probably scares one off.

Actually, folks have been followed from matches and robbed while they were in a restaurant. I personally know of two cases here.

However, we are going in circles. The question would be best put to criminals and ask how they select cars or homes for theft purposes.

Otherwise, having us say - Yes or No - isn't worth much.

Unless you have some factual insights (as compared to your opinion), let's let this one die.

I also believe that thieves of opportunity and/or meth heads steal whatever they can see and can get fast. I also believe that pros, who are looking for something specific, will choose their targets methodically.

I like putting an ADT sign out front of the house, whether I have an alarm company or not. I do not advertise anything firearm related, or anything else worth money, to thieves who target their marks. Why make their job easier?

I thought it was the Gun free area signs that drew criminals in . I have to say that around here every other truck you see has atleast one firearm in the back window and theft of firearms from truck racks has not been a problem .
