No More Walmart Ammo?

Just last night at my walmart we got a shipment of ammo in

60 boxes of 9mm
52 boxes of .40 cal
28 boxes of .45
108 boxes of 308
06 boxes of .38's
15 boxes of .357
00 boxes of .380 which i think we should do away with because it's to hard to come by and we get tired of turning costumers away.
31 boxes of 357 sig
00 boxes of 270
51 boxes of 223
20 boxes of .22 long 375 count
08 boxes of .22 long 550 count

I saw it all roll down the belt, and had to help take to dept.:D ,so i returned after work and bought 3 boxes of each .40,357 sig.

It's in the best interest of Olin and all of the other ammo makers to crank out as much ammo as possible. Profit baby.

Yes the war and concerns over possible oppressive regulations have caused some hoarding, but my area Wal-Mart stores have more ammo in stock now than a year ago.

Just bought six boxes of Federal .22LR bricks. What's stills scarce is 9mm.

Keep hunting for ammo and changes are you'll find some.

The sporting goods guy at one local WalMart told me they are no longer allowed to re-order ammo. Not because it isn't available but because all the ordering is being done from a central location. Who knows what the truth is but that particular store has been my best source as I've built my stash up over the last couple months.

About ten days ago they got multiple cases of Federal 9mm and they must be getting more of it as they go along cause I've bought quite a bit and they still have what looks like a couple hundred boxes in the cabinet. They also have some 50 WWB 9mm and they have been getting that on a fairly regular basis for a while now.

This store is in Lewisville, TX on FM 3040. I dropped by the Highland Village/Flower Mound Walmart tonight and they had a good supply of Federal 9mm as well.

With what I bought today I now have 5,250 rounds of 9mm so I'm just going to replace what I shoot from this point on. Probably. Unless it just continues to sit on the shelf. ;)

The stores around here have been pretty much fully stocked on 22LR in multiple brands for a few months now. Lots and lots of Federal and Remm bulk packs have just been sitting there. I don't have any room left to store 22.

Couple of times I've managed to be at WallyWorld when they were opening their ammo shipment. It was a real mixed lot of ammo. Couple of boxes of this or that, just whatever their distribution center sent them, but not a complete re-stocking in all calibers. It seemed that all of them had 7mm Mag when they had nothing else on the shelf. WW accross Texas has pretty much limited ammo purchases to 5 or 6 boxes. But supplies have improved recently over what it was during the summer.

The last Winchester 38 Special & 357 Mag ammo I bought was loaded with the same 130 gr FMJ bullet that Winchester is using in it's 357 Sig load.

bought 1200rns of 9mm WWB in the last 24 hrs from my local WalMart

and they still had some left this afternoon

boolits

That 357 load that had the Sig 130 bullet in it, did that function/work OK??
The Sig takes a .355 bullet like a 9mm vs the .357 for the 357.
just wondering........

My Wal Mart had over fifty 100 round boxes of 45 ACP ammo when I stopped in there last night. I have over 3500 rounds, so I didn't buy any but it is sure starting to look like the great ammo drought is starting to end (at least here in Georgia, it is). 2009 was a bad year for ammunition buying here. I stocked up in 2008 when things were still good (as a lot of other shooters did, I am sure). Maybe since the panic is over, things will stabilize now.

Discovered one 100 round box of Winchester .380 FMJ for $36 at my local WM on 12/26. Fisrt time in almost a year I've seen them in stock. No 9, 38, 40 or 45. Some 2.23 and 7.62.

As Pogo said "We have met the enemy....."

I was about to argue with you but then I remembered buying the last 100 round box of WWB 9mm while I was in Fredericksburg over Christmas. Might have been the last 9mm in that WalMart period.

As far as the other 5,150 rounds of 9mm I have right now, there was and is plenty of ammo around here for others to buy.

I've also posted several time here and on THR when I've found ammo at WalMart over the past months.

Anyway...

I discovered yesterday that one of the local ranges is sending people to Wal Mart each morning to buy up the ammo just as soon as the shipment comes in. Although Wal Mart seems to limit the number of boxes they will sell at a time, the range people will go into the store multiple times to buy ammo. You might check if there is someone in your neighborhood who is doing the same thing.

Last week I was in the nearest Walmart Sun morning, must have beat the range platoon because the counter man was just unpacking the WWB .45 auto 100 rd boxes as I asked--I got my six :). The shelves had their usual emptiness, but I asked--and there in his hands was my Christmas joy.:D
