No love for .40 S&W...?

i've never gotten around to a 40 cal. i think probably because it was a late commer and i already had a couple of 9mm's and 45's. i am a believer in the kiss system and i figure the 9's and 45's cover all my bases. i don't have anything against the 40 and if someone shoved one in my hand when i needed it i wouldn't toss it away. my son has a 40 and likes it alot. i think of the 40 as a tweener, something between the 9 and 45 and i don't really see any benifit over the 45's that i have confidence in and already shoot well. maybe it is a generational thing.

Again, it's the "tweener" factor that makes the forty a viable alternative to a .45. More ammunition (that is more powerful than the nine) stuffed into a 9mm sized-frame gives the forty an edge over the .45 if compactness, lighter weight and higher ammunition capacity are deemed assets for a self-defense handgun that has to be carried concealed.

I do like the 40 S&W. I wanted something with more power than the typical 9mm and less power than the 45 ACP. Plus you get the benefit of double stack magazines like the 9mm.
