Here's another way to look at it: do you really want to spend your money (no matter how little or how much) in an establishment that does not support your 2nd admendment rights? Do you want to do business with someone who might use your very money (the money that you spend there) to make anti-gun contributions?[/quote]
...not really, but I fully intend on finishing that pint of Ben & Jerry's (who do support anti-gunners)
Chunky Monkey in my refridgerator.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself while I was at Kroger.
As for whats on the back of my GA Firearms License:
16-11-127. Carrying deadly weapons to or at public gatherings.
(a) Expect as provided in Code Section 16-11-127.1, a person is guilty of a misdemeanor when he carries to or while at a public gathering any explostive compount, firearm, or knife designed for the purpose of offense and defense. (b) For the purpose of this Code section, "public gathering" shall include, but shall not be limited to, atheletic or sporting events, churches or church functions, political rallies or functions, publicaly owned or operated buildings, or establishments at which alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises. (c) This Code section shall not apply to competitors participating in organized shooting events. Law enforcement officers, peace officers retired from state or federal law enforcement agencies, judges, magistrates, solicitors, and district attoneys may carry pistols in publicly owned or operated buildings."
Fully understanding this and other laws, I will not say that I have not violated this in respect to carrying a concealed weapon. In fact, I often find that I unknowningly violate it at moments. However, you
will not catch me in certain places with one.. (Post Office, a bank, government office, etc.) Each situation is different. I especially disagree with the clause about carrying in a place that serves alcohol. As I understand it, it is legal as long as the restaurant, etc. does not make 55%+ of its profits by alcohol. If I'm drinking, I don't carry. If I'm not, I do. I don't intend on being assaulted by a drunk, just because he is drunk and its unlawful for me to carry. In that light, I tend to abide by this saying: "Its better to be judged by twelve, than carried by six."
