Night stand gun..Where does it really go?

My nightstand gun is a Springfield Loaded, with a spare mag, 4-inch folder and Surefire 9p nearby, along with an old cell phone (did you know even cell phones that are no longer active can be used to call 9-1-1?) ... my nightstand is made like a writing desk; the flat portion folds up to conceal what's inside ... as I'm getting ready to hit the sack, I open the folding portion and move the gun from inside to the edge closest to me, where it can be reached instantly ... I'm a light sleeper and I have a beagle that barks at anything approaching our house (sadly, that includes every deer, skunk, coyote or mouse that walks by). It's only my wife and I, so there are no late-night surprises; anybody in the house other than us is an intruder who will be dealt with ...

my wife's nightstand contains pepper spray and one of those huge 3-cell Maglites (she's not a gun fan but knows how to shoot very well).

One other thing to consider, especially if you like to sleep au natural. I normally wear just a t-shirt in the winter and tank top in summer, so I keep a pair of shorts and flipflops next to the bed in case we have to exit to our patio from the bedroom. The wife keeps a robe nearby for the same reason ... sorry, no pics available ...:D

You know Bill, good tips. I knew that about the phones but didn't think to put one in the bedroom. That will change for sure. My wife has a bat under her side of the bed and a maglight. Aren't Maglites great!

Nice! I like a lot of these setups :) I usually always had a TLR-1 attached to front of my nightstand gun. But I gifted it to a friend in need. I need another one.....Think I'll actually buy it this week.

Anyone use tac lights?

No kids and I have trouble sleeping without the doors and windows locked.

I think under pillow is not a great idea, but in the mattress in a holster is not a bad way to go. I think in the drawer of the nightstand is better than on top. If someone does sneak into your room it won't be visible. If they are not in your room yet you have plenty of time to open the drawer and grab. I have wondered if anyone goes as far as to sleep with a holstered pistol on their body.

my recommendation is something with a flashlight under the barrel.. one you can activate as soon as you grab it for two reasons...

reason 1.. you can see who it is, so you dont end up shooting a friend or family member...

reason 2, itll blind the guy and he wont be able to see you

Nightstand

On nightstand is my S&W 686 loaded with six .357 hallow points. Most nights my carry S&W 340 sits there too. My yellow lab Fred not best head of homeland security.

Most gun owners today have more than one gun in their home. Many folk have a gun in every room, unseen but there and ready.
But, the handgun next to my bed is a Beretta 92 9mm...and very close by is a Mossberg 500 w/ pistol grip 12 Gauge...buck shot.

I keep my BG380 on the nightstand next to where I sleep. We also have a German Shepherd mix that sleeps in the room.

BTW, BG380 to be replaced by my HK45 when it arrives. :) Christmas early.

Unfortunately, with a two year old that I swear is part octopus (hands everywhere) it severely limits what I can have out. I have not figured anything great or earthshattering out yet... Still working on the set up, but it usually includes a Mossberg 500 and my EDC pistol.

My Beretta 92 Vertec Inox with a LaserMax Uni-Max red laser sits on top of my nightstand about a foot away from the bed.

Must be nice to feel safe before bed -___- wish we all felt that. Even then, I personally would still had a night stand gun. Just saying. They don't want to rob their own crappy hoods. They want to home invade and rob the nice areas. Food for thought. Don't let your guard down guys and gals. Come on now!

Well I live along most of the time. I have a pistol on night stand right next to bed. But the short barrel collapsible stock AR 15 with 30 round mag is under 2 pillows next to me . Just in case.

I live way out in country Sheriff or State be min 30 min if called only 1 on patrol in county .
