It's my understanding, that Tikka is just flaky. At least two gunsmiths that frequent this site claim that there is zero customer support. They can't make repairs, because Tikka will not send relacement parts.
Personally Tikkas don't appeal to me at all. There were just too many corners cut for them to be charging what they do.
Tikkas have a reputation for accuracy, but all cheap rifles now days are capable of equivalent accuracy.
I have never liked rifles where the receiver is a piece of drilled out pipe. The bolt is a solid piece, I don't kno0w, but have heard that the bolt may be partially hollow. The recoil lug is a washer, and I just don't like that Bikini ejection port.
Many shooters think they are the bomb, but I have to wonder, if they have never been exposed to a genuine solidly built rifle.
I'm not saying they aren't suitable rifles, but they cut so many corners and didn't pass any of them to the consumer.
They do have a superior fit and finish to say an Axis, MOssberg, or Ruger American, but should cost maybe $100 more than these entry level firearms.
The notion that Tikka's are more accurate than other cheap rifles is preposterous! I own premium rifles, Weatherby's, Cooper, Mauser and Ruger pistols. The cheapest piece I own is Vanguard in 300WBY easily as accurate as my MKV, 340WBY.
I have owned Mdl 700's in the past, and they were perfectly seviceable, but I sold them when I found what they were.
If the Tikka fits your holster, that's all that matters.
