NEW Ruger Mark IV

Was hoping the new release would be an optics ready sr9. Oh well. Maybe at the shot show. Smart but belated move by ruger.

Here I was, perfectly content with my pistols, and Ruger had to go and do this to me.

While I'm not a huge fan of stainless steel pistols, that's certainly not a deal-breaker. I like it.

^^^ Based on the photo, I think we can conclusively declare that aftermarket uppers for the previous generations will NOT fit on this pistol.

That's an even worse attempt at a link. Wish I could help. It's an interesting video.

I'll wait awhile and give the after market guys a chance to offer some trigger, etc. parts. Then buy a full size Hunter to make my little group complete. Or, maybe just get a full size Hunter Mark iii, if a bargain comes up.

Most of these Ruger chunks of steel will be here long after we are gone. Overall, they got it right with this design.

A big hand-salute to Ruger

It's hard to improve on perfection
Well, looks like I'm going to have to eat my own words and that's okay with me. I have often said that there are many trade-offs in the Ruger MK family but this time I feel they have hit a home run. .

Be Safe !!!

And those of us who said the MK1-3 was a stupid design and were told we were just too dumb to work on that clusterpiece of engineering...

We offer another type of salute. :D

I never had a problem with my MK II's with regards to disassembly, cleaning and reassembly. However, this new MK IV certainly does look like a home run. Thanks to Ruger for removing the LCI, and the mag disconnect is easily dealt with.

Very nice design and feel that you will like it !!!

I've been waiting to hold one of these and finally got to do so. I examined a Hunter, a Target blued and a Target SS. I asked the dealer to pull the barrel on the SS target and came off smoother than a prom dress. Absolutely no binding or hang-ups. Once you get the barrel off, you have to hold it muzzle down or the bold will fall out. The loaded chamber indicator "IS" finally gone !!! .... :D

I was especially interested in the new frame design and it is stout and attractive. I got the impression that from model to model, these are a bit heavier. Never had a problem with the previous frames and I suspect it's for added support. Price-wise, it pretty much the same as the HK-III. I like it but my MK-II will do just fine. ..... :)

BE SAFE !!!

I got to handle and disassemble a target model today.
Its pretty snazzy and sure to be a big hit for Ruger.

I have put a stainless model on my wish list..

Sounds like win-win-win. Feeble types who flip out at little machanical things can both flood the market with (phenomenal) earlier pistols AND not buy up these fantastic older pistols on the used market while they funnel their money in to being beta-testers for more "improvements" (bwuhahaha) on lower quality "modern" production guns.

This pleases me... and the folks who won't understand me whatsoever.

So, terrific news.
Indeed.

I see a Mk I / Mk II finally coming into my possession at a price I'm willing to pay.

YES, all the way

If so how do you like the design and have you looked into disabling them?
As mentioned, I do like the design and observed the dealer, pulling the barrel. I asked him to do so as I had no intention of buying it and obviously he had done so previously. Pushed the button and tilted the barrel out, with little or no effort. Again, the only issue I "might" have, is the slightly added weight. .. :)

Be Safe !!!

Its hinged at the front... The lever at the rear seems to be an ambi safety... or it could be the takedown control.

But I think I see the hint of a "button" at the rear of the frame.

So you push down the button to unlock the rear, and tilt it up on the hinge pin.

Slide out the bolt to the rear, and presto, easy takedown and cleaning.

They should have done this ages ago. The first time I disassembled my MkIII, and went to put it back together, I cussed for half an hour, because the hammer strut got caught and stuck where it shouldn't be... Prevented reassembly.

LOL! If I'd been near a reasonably sized body of water the first time I tore mine down and tried to put it back together, I'd have chunked the damned thing right in!
