Well, looks like I'm going to have to eat my own words and that's okay with me. I have often said that there are many trade-offs in the Ruger MK family but this time I feel they have hit a home run. .It's hard to improve on perfection
Indeed.Sounds like win-win-win. Feeble types who flip out at little machanical things can both flood the market with (phenomenal) earlier pistols AND not buy up these fantastic older pistols on the used market while they funnel their money in to being beta-testers for more "improvements" (bwuhahaha) on lower quality "modern" production guns.
This pleases me... and the folks who won't understand me whatsoever.
So, terrific news.
As mentioned, I do like the design and observed the dealer, pulling the barrel. I asked him to do so as I had no intention of buying it and obviously he had done so previously. Pushed the button and tilted the barrel out, with little or no effort. Again, the only issue I "might" have, is the slightly added weight. ..If so how do you like the design and have you looked into disabling them?
Its hinged at the front... The lever at the rear seems to be an ambi safety... or it could be the takedown control.
But I think I see the hint of a "button" at the rear of the frame.
So you push down the button to unlock the rear, and tilt it up on the hinge pin.
Slide out the bolt to the rear, and presto, easy takedown and cleaning.
They should have done this ages ago. The first time I disassembled my MkIII, and went to put it back together, I cussed for half an hour, because the hammer strut got caught and stuck where it shouldn't be... Prevented reassembly.
