New/Old Model 10

It's funny but I don't see a lot of snubbies in Model 10 in the photos above. My wife has a blued 10-5 snubby with checkered wooden grips. It doesn't fit my hand too well but it sure plays nice at the range for a revolver with such a short sight radius and basic sights. I've got a model 64 (also a snubby), which is basically the stainless version of the 10.

You all are evil..... I know theres a Victory model with the saddle loop on the butt at a local pawn shop for $400...... My wife would kill me though......

My wife would kill me though
Only if she found out. The obvious lesson here is to accumulate enough firearms of various types that your wife/significant other doesn't notice them going in or out.

OK CSMSSS, I'm with you on the snubbies so how about a 2 inch round but with a few of it's friends.

I have two 10-5 snubbies, they make perfect car guns.
Great pocket guns too (if you have deep pockets like cargo pants or are wearing a jacket). I like that even though this is a small frame, easily concealable piece, that you still get six rounds and aren't limited to five.

The Model 10 is one of thee best guns ever, in my opinion.

New or old, they just work and the frame size is perfection.

Model 10

I have a couple of 10-5s that I like a whole lot. They just handle and shoot so well.

There's a reason these were the sidearm of practically all law enforcement agencies in the US (and many abroad) for half a century.

The M&P/M10 is an all time classic. The 10-5 would have the tapered barrel and the 10-6 was the heavy barrel. The frame of the -5 doesn't quite meet perfectly with the -6 barrel and this is a tip off that the barrel has been swapped.

Somebody asked about "snubbies?" OK...

The engraved one with imitation pearl grips is about as slick as I've seen. A real work of art!

Heavy Barrel Model 10

The Model 10, square butt, 4 inch heavy barrel, used to be the issue revolver for the Metropolitan Police. I first qualified with it in 1980 and carried them on and off for 15 years. Drawn, but never fired, in anger. Despite the 9mm's, 45's and various magnums I owned as a civilian shooter when doing so was legal in this country, the model 10 remains my all time favourite. The next time I get to the US I will find a range and rent one for a few hundred rounds for old time sake.
For a no frills chunk of utter dependability, it was very hard to beat.

I knew it was a bad idea reading this thread. Now my 2nd model 10 will be delivered to my ffl tomorrow. Somehow I don't think it'll be the last. Looking for a good deal on a snubby 10. Wheel guns are addictive. Next I'd like a model 19 and model 66
