Bill, the thing about the "short barrel" .22 Mag ammo is the bullets expand from a 2 inch barrel, thus cause more damage internally. Unfortunately, that short barrel .22 mag ammunition is either discontinued by the manufacturers or is just not being produced.
Because they're not available and because general .22 Magnum ammo isn't much better than .22 LR from the short barrels, .22 LR may as well be what's used in a mini revolver for defense or general plinking.
